Just recently, I've been thinking about how much the world could advance if we didn't spend so much money and energy in war. It seems a little cliche, but I wanted to know if anyone even believed in world peace, even if it was only temporary. What can we do to achieve it?

I don't believe in world peace, hell, I don't even want it. Conflict (as terrible as it may be) is what pushes the world on, if you look at history, a great majority of the words great innovations and inventions come from the pressure of war. Not to mention the items that it has given us, just look at the mobile phone. War is bad, but we can't just colourise everything in black and white. Of course, if there wasn't people striving for peace, the world would fall into chaos. I guess both sides are needed then.

I don't believe we could get world peace ANY time soon, but I do believe in it. If it existed I doubt we would need a lot of the things we even have/invented because of them.

Though if one day it did exist, there will always be those few people that try to just screw everything up.

I think the only way to achieve that would be time. There are already some areas in the world with very little to no crime rate, and they usually exist in the countries that have been there awhile (A.K.A., they know what the fuck they're doing).

they say if you want peace, then you must prepare for war. hmmm or would you rather I say peace is mearly the prelude to war. one way or another war is just apart of humanity as is peace. interestingly enuf some of the greatest leaps in technology are attributed to various wars. war is when man is at his most creative and passionate, both in the destruction of their opponents and the protection of their allies. I beleive humans can create world peace but it would only be temporary, if humans are actualy capable makeing a permanent peace for themselves then id say they were no longer human. heh, but that's not nessisarily a bad thing, lol.

I'm Christian, which I feel is a very underrepresented group in the internet community, and I believe in peace. However, I don't really believe in world peace. I believe that humanity, fallen from God and corrupted with sin, cannot do something like create complete peace in the world. I realize that in some places, people have been able to get pretty close, but I don't think that it is true peace that can last forever. So the peace I believe in lies in heaven. I believe heaven will be where we can live together in perfect peace for eternity with God.
I wrote this post to express what I believe in and not to start a religious war zone. This is my faith and I'm not trying to offend anyone. If it did offend somebody, I apologize in advance.

It depends on what you count as world peace. If world peace is no country is at war with another, then yes. Rare, but yes. If world peace is no crime, no war, no wrong doing at all, then no. People aren't perfect enough for that. The best way to try to achieve world piece is to gain power and influence and then use that power and influence to lead others into peace. It basically means becoming world dictator. The second best and most realistic way is to spread kindness. Give some extra cash to the people on the street. Hold the door for strangers. Do random acts of kindness as much as possible. Hopefully this kindness will spread. Unlikely though.

PEACE is obtainable. But you have to wonder at what cost? And who will monitor that this PEACE is maintained? Clearly freedom and rights will be quite limited.

Peace won't exist if we can't fight ignorance first...

You can fight against ignorance, but it won't be defeated.

What kind of peace? peace only on the surface? do you know what happens behind the facade? the public doesn't. only a few do. most wars are made behind our backs. If we want to achieve true piece, it would be an almost impossible feat.

Peace like the many people think it is can not exist. The reason is the human being it can only give truly peace when we eredicate the human race of this planet. The cold war that is what i find is peace when two sites have the same power so that there is a balance of power. That is PEACE !

World Peace... I wish for that for every moment I live. It is an ideal concept, but impossible to achieve if any one person has doubt. I believe! Do you?

I think peace is possible. I mean, in times of crisis, people seem to forget their differences and band together to help each other. So, it might just be possible, so long as we as a race can look at we can do to benefit each other rather than destroy each other with weapons.

Is not posible, because the "Peace" is perfect, and nothing can be perfect.

Noctis... you thought that with your mind, not your heart... didn't you? You choose which which part to listen to, but know peace is possible... just one person at a time. This is addressed to the rest of The World as well.

If you are talking about world peace, then it isn't possible without sacrificing many important ideals. It just wouldn't be ethical or morally sound with people. If you are talking about momentary peace like >>14 then yeah! There are times where I feel at peace. Not now since I have exams :/

My heart achs for those that only follow what they can see. Peace needs love and people following the desire for harmony to work... anywhere from inner peace or world peace.

World peace is an image that idealists dream up. I'm idealistic, yes I wish such thing was attainable, but reality is, it's impossible. I believe however it is possible by focusing on a smaller version of such a thing. Such as our communities. Raise awareness in smaller proportions and eventually it'll grow. Never the whole world, but you can make a difference in a smaller perspective.

anyways, personally I believe everyone has the capability of attaining peace, but I don't think everyone will ever full realize that ability. Peace and war exhist as a yin yang. Though I think peave is always attainable, it is never going to blast forever XD

The world is never going to be perfect, because people aren't perfect. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.

the concept of a utopian society scares me to be honest. A place were nothing is wrong? It wouldn't be a utopia for everyone. It might even be boring, because there wouldn't be anything for people to fight against or stand for. I think the important thing is just to get the economy back on track and someday make our technology green and in partnership with the Earth.

But yes, I do believe in peace.
