well I need advice theres these white things growing on my moms tongue kinda looks the the picture on a cigarette pack I dont wanna think its some type of cancer but if anyone has seen something like that or knows what it could me please let me know I would truly appreciate it.

A doctor wasn't good enough?

It doesn't cost much to ask a doctor something. The real money is getting treatment.

Well... I'm pretty sure no one here are on their way to handing out professional opinions with their PhDs hanging on the back wall. Why don't you just look it up yourself since you can't provide a picture?

How many people on here have a medical licence, and are qualified enough to diagnose over the internet with no contact with the patient whatsoever? Fucking nobody.

Geez, guys.... There isn't any need to be so rude to her... I mean, I see your point, but she was just asking if anyone might think they know what it is... I'm sure she has probably looked it up but wants some other people's input. It's her mom and she's worried... I'm sure no one knows exactly what it is on here, but yikes... I see what you mean. Just remember, when in doubt assume that it's trouble. The problems that can arise from not putting real clinical consideration towards this issue can be lethal, while the problems that arise if she were to go and be fine are a small span of time and a few bucks. Which is worth more?

kind of an odd question but the possible things are that she has

coating, leukoplakia, cancer, geographic tongue, lichen planus, dry mouth, or thrush.

white spots on the tongue can be explained by anything from a fungus infection, to a bacterial infection, to cancer. Some of these infections can be fought off by the bodies natural immune system, but others of these are more serious and could very well be life threatening if it spreads. I suggest seeing a doctor, getting some tests done, and going from there. As said before, none of us are actual doctors so we can not be for sure what it is(especially without a picture). Get it?? If she looked things up on her own, she would have noticed that their infor was something she had already read.
And was it even helpful? They listed a wide range of possible diagnoses. And if you want that list narrowed, it means you'll have to go to the doctor anyway, get it?

I once had an infection but it went away after i took medicine. It was on my cheek, but my doctor said lots of infections and stuff can happen in your mouth so its best to see a doctor. Plus i could be more susceptible in the future. (

P.S. I haven't had one since though.
