This morning at school two girls walked up to me and waved I said hey what's up and they began scribbling on notecards instead if verbally responding they said that today was the DAY OF SILENCE: it is to honor all the gays, lesbians, transponders, bisexuals, and pansexuals who took their lives since they had lost their voice I have lost mine as well. thus the world wide DAY OF SILENCE! After that I decided to join in. It was actually kind of fun I never really noticed how hard it is to be silent. By lunch the DAY OF SILENCE phenomenon had begun, "are you speaking?" had become a casual question! Other than a few slip ups and when I had to answer a teacher I stayed silent for most of the day. Most of the 8th Grade and some of the 7th Grade were not speaking. And when they were asked why they weren't talking no one was afraid to say why.
