How Do You Vent? (97)

1 Name: Shadow : 2013-04-02 17:40 ID:sBHacd3+ [Del]

I am creating this thread for a personal reason, but i see that it can help many others as well. The topic is how do you vent? How do we as humans choose to relieve stress from ourselves? Unfortunately i do not have a way to relieve stress myself, i bottle it all up. i would like to know how normal people vent, especially since a bottle only has so much room.

2 Name: Nobody !nNP0bPAimE : 2013-04-02 17:56 ID:Hx4UeIDQ [Del]

Very few things make me upset, I can laugh off just about anything. Most of the time I seem upset, the people around me know it's a joke, me giving a huge, angry, response to something that doesn't really need such an outburst. I imagine jokes like this are part of the reason the little things don't get to me.

The few things that do upset me are talked about with any applicable person/s, until we come to a conclusion. This may sound weird, but if you can't talk to a person, have the conversation in your head. Act as if you are calmly talking over an issue with someone, go through all angles of the situation, and you will generally feel better about it.

My third stress killer is a bit of pot every now and then. I don't think I need to go into detail about that, other than try to have a nice cold drink with you as well as some good music.

i leave in my stress and havent vented it out either but the way i do it is i scream in a small room like a little kids play house or something like that and scream like a heavy metal person! it really scared my friends because im usually the quiet one and its really funny!

4 Name: ArtisticAnarchy!!1iXgfdW/ : 2013-04-02 21:09 ID:HI9/cGWz [Del]

as for myself, I usually find a quiet place in my house, listen to music, and text a friend of mine talking about my problem. Most of the time this friend doesn't know how to answer so either says "sorry" or "_____ is a (dumbass/bitch/bastard/etc). don't listen to (him/her)." I never expect this friend to actually give me advice or solve my problems but it's good to just know someone is listening. Sometimes my friend surprises me and gives me a piece of advice that I haven't tried and has a possibility of working.

I'm not really sure about this. I'm sensitive, so me getting pissed off could be easy. But sooner or later, I got so used to it, that it starts to amuse me. That's one thing that happened to me. Second, I could just take deep breaths, let it all out, scream out, but do t do it in front of anybody. Or if you wanna do it silently, get a piece of paper and free-write of how you feel. Hope this works

I feel some of this will help, thank you guys.

7 Name: Lady : 2013-04-03 22:47 ID:2ppc/8Mr [Del]

i don't. My version of perfect 'venting' is throwing and breking shit, but I can't do that now can I?

8 Name: kidan-kun : 2013-04-04 02:47 ID:KJAGkQWM [Del]

I see life as a joke, and that's why i respond to every thing as i do. Stress, is not a problem in my life, i have tried to vent, relax by drawing, or listen to music on my couch, but ended up sleeping instead xD

I know that a well known professor in creative psychotherapy, recomends that you, at least once a week, get all naked and go outsite, and just scream, what's on your mind. But well his motto is Cock is God xD

well i personally have 5 ways
1. sparing/street fighting
2. meditation
3. spending time with little kids/ animals
4. reading/writing then burning it 5. training until my body can no longer sustain the constant full force of the training and im forced to the ground

10 Name: D.T.K : 2013-04-04 14:51 ID:SjuxJ3or [Del]

I have to agree with >>7 breaking stuff would help but I usually draw. If I'm angry I draw an angry person if im depressed I draw another depressed person, I guess it's like I draw a person going through the same thing as me so I don't have to go through this by myself.

11 Name: HAM : 2013-04-04 17:13 ID:vx4eBqVa [Del]

I bottle it all up, too. But I'm slowly starting to come out of my "bottle."
Personally, I bike. I put in headphones and play music while biking, and it only really helps if it's dark out. So I can only do it in the summer when it's warm enough (at least where I live). But literally, I feel like the only reason I got out of depression in the first place is because I did that.

Drawing helps a bit, too.
I also just rant to my online friends. It's nice because we never see each other in real life so we can pretty much say whatever we want to each other and not feel weirded out by it or anything, and I never felt like that with any of my real life friends.

Anime and manga can help to get my mind of the real word, especially if it's a funny one for me personally. It's really the reason I love it so much.

And sometimes, it's just nice to spend a day crying in bed.
But all this works for me personally. I think it depends on the person as to how to get it all out/deal with it.

This is a difficult question to answer as I don't get too angry or upset nowadays however I'll admit I did have some problems as I grew up and the way that I vented my feelings were
- listen to music REALLY LOUD. Block out surrounding commotion
- draw
- Think about the situation you are in and go in everyone's shoes that is involved
- I don't suggest this at all but I did self harm

I notice that a lot of people put down drawing as an answer. i tried it and it seems to help out. but i'm really looking for a more permanent solution to removing my bottled up feelings. preferably something less damaging and legal lol. thanks for the assistance.

I usually bottle it up and keep it to myself rather that shout at the offending person. Sometimes I just read a manga and watch some anime. I draw as well when I feel like it. And I play video games, specifically RPGs. It takes my mind off things.

Ive had troubles in the past with not being able to vent..... still do -_- so I feel you bro..... Im not sure if its any help but Ill meld things over in my mind and try to set things up right when im trying to get out of a funk.. although it constantly pisses my off when as soon as i finish getting thing straight, EVERYONE wants you to talk about it and it brings everything back up... :P

I just vent. Usually here, on fb, or to a close friend. I think it's best to just rage it out to someone you trust or sleep it off entirely.

Either I write really angry pieces or I break things. Both work pretty well :)
I don't talk to people about it because my problems are very different and I doubt many people would get them, and I don't really know any sensitive people so I'll stick to what I've got.

Haha, well...venting! I suck at it. I mostly bottle things up until a later date and explode in anger at some later point in time. Straw that broke the camel's back type deal. And/or poetry. Sometimes music helps relieve stress, too, I suppose...

Ah, this question is a little hard for me, because I don't really get angry all that often. I guess I just shrug everything off- or rather, I enjoy the negativity that others tend to hate. Isn't it easier that way, to revel in stress and take pleasure in strife? I like to think so, at least.

Well...When it comes to venting,I usually say the reason why I'm angry to my friends and/or ask for advice...I consider real people to be the best way ever to relieve stress, because they might have dealt with the same shit as me,so they'll give good advice or they might be upbeat, energetic and funny(something that I love in people, especially in my friends ^.^ ).When someone is happy,he/she can make you get through almost anything, really!!But when I can't do that(for a variety of reasons, like, well, when I'm angry because I've fought with my friends in the first place) I either talk to my internet friends or visit a social site, like tumblr, and just...Read things that describe how I feel!!I know it may sound weird, but when I feel sad,I...Don't try to take my mind off of things!!I usually whine a lot about my problems and,as selfish as it may seem...It really helps!!Bottling things up,on the other hand,NEVER helps....It can actually make me feel really badly...A third solution would be to have a bath,go for a long walk, listen to music or watch a movie...But I wouldn't really say it has helped me much...It helps me forget about my problems, but there always comes the time when I have to face them,so yeah...:/

I find it a little difficult to vent to be honest. A few friends have told me from time to time that it's alright for me to "vent" or rant about shit to them but, just like you Shadow, bottling it up is what I turn to. For me personally physically venting relieves me better, but the troubling thing for me is that it usually involves throwing or hitting things, which end up getting destroyed or damaged. I've broken 2 phones, punched a wall, and all others kinds of things. Just recently, I've realized that archery and marching band is a great way for me to vent without having to say a word at all, so I try to stick to those as much as possible. But if you're the type that just wants to say what you're feeling, I suggest that you write it down, maybe say it out loud if you want to. That is if you prefer not to turn to a friend, if you do then go ahead so long as they say that they're perfectly a-ok with listening with what you have to say.

52 Name: Benefactor !jh0O3NJnRs : 2013-08-10 17:24 ID:7jHn7+Br [Del]

I don't have a lot to vent about. I have the gift that I don't let things get to me. I let bad experiences pass and I learn from them. I don't pay any attention to what other people think unless they are someone whom I respect and respect me.

In other words, I just never care, so I don't have any need to vent.

53 Name: bleu : 2013-08-10 18:39 ID:qWayNpUl [Del]

Its easy the only thing I due is make fun of the stupid posts other people put up on the site and ridicule them or I just use my foot to make another hole in the wall and when I go to the hospital to get my foot stitch up from getting hit by hitting a stud in the wall I feel better when the give me morphine and all my muscles relax and I feel so much better but if your bad at kicking then just punch the wall and make a your knuckles bleed

54 Name: AbyssalLight7 : 2013-08-19 00:02 ID:3IBmaYkz [Del]

I have a few things I do but they don't help TO much. 1- I talk and let my feelings out with a close, trusted friend, they normally understand and we help each other out. 2- I let it out on forum site's were your encouraged to discuss your feelings. Really, talk about things really helps, also sometimes you just need to let it all out at once (I suggest this thread for one: http://dollars-bbs.org/personal/res/1346767429.html)

Every fortnight or so I take the time to get angry and throw things around the room while shouting. Then I resume normal life.
Oh, and when I'm under A LOT of stress, I have little fits of rage at random moments. I tend to have them at school and they usually only last for a second or two, but it's a very loud second or two.

For the most point I don't really vent, I keep everything bottled inside, I'll rarely cry about it, but sometimes a few drinks help clear my mind (but it's always with my friend and no one else so I don't do anything stupid.) I have also been writing a tragic storyline for an anime though.

I play the piano. And I don't like the effect the piano has over me. Whenever I play it, the angry feelings, the sadness, the world, all the problems, everything just melts away. It's just me and the piano. Nothing else matters.

I don't vent. When I was a kid I was always taught that bad stuff are going to happen, plans will fail, things will go wrong so there's no point in moaning and groaning about it. You pick yourself up, dust off your pants and keep moving forward. When people hate you you simply shrug, after all, what harm are they really doing? Words are just vapor in the air. Life is much to much short to spend even one day stewing over "He did this" or "She said that". It's so much easier just to let go of hatred and angry and just keep on living.

I'm not very good at venting, so in the very rare occasions that I do it comes as a complete surprise to those around me and the situation or people that I vented at didn't deserve any of what came out of me.

I usually watch a show or read a book-usually a manga. Or I draw to relax. But if I'm really under anger and stress I take scalding showers which I can actually handle very high temperatures now-though I measure how long I can stand hot water so as not to accidently burn myself. If I don't do those things I'll lay down under a blanket in a dark room to calm myself creating a "mind sanctuary".
I have Asperger's so that third option really helps especially if I'm under lots of stress related to that.

Ugh...
where do I even begin here? I got in trouble tresspassing and got a ticket and shit, and that was just starting to blow over. Now I've just gotten myself caught torrenting copyrighted material and will probably end up having to pay money for it. Getting real tired of myself lately, why can't things just not screw me once in a while?

when i'm in front of other people i try not to cry or do something stupid like shouting.. i just simply draw while counting to 20. But when im alone i cry then play loud music and eat sweets or just cook

I think to sum up you can just do things that take your mind off of life. A good book or anime I find especially helpful because I can immerse myself in the story line. I am much the same actually, the most useful thing is to have someone to vent to. Someone who will just listen and not say anything or judge you. If you can find a person like that you're set. And as far as places go I think this is the right place to find someone to vent to~

1. Play online games.
2. Watch a really good, long, completed TV series(so my mind will be distracted with all the crap that I'm going through).
3. Read manga, watch anime.
4. Listen to music .
5. Go here and read threads.

I agree with Mana, Play some games, watch Durarara again (im guessing you've seen it because your on the Dollars Website) don't bottle it up because that will just make it 100 times worse for the poeple around you aswell as yourself.

i also segest sleeping, just spend your weekends sleeping (if you can)

Go on Tumblr, play video games, watch anime, read manga, play piano, listen to music, napping when needed, go on youtubeto rewatch my favorites, draw, and spend time on the internet. I will also tend to surf the web and do some history/cultural research (yes, I actually do that as a hobby.. apparently).
