Sorry if this offends anyone, I don't mean to do so if it does. I obviously watch anime, big shocker. Is it the only thing I watch? Of course not. My favorite shows are all Hollywood born and made (for lack of a better term). Is it a big part of my life? I would say that I enjoy it, and really admire the creative teams (both Japanese and American) who produce it. So my question is: is it normal to feel embarrassed about the fact that I watch anime? I'm relatively new to it, only a couple years. I just feel like I can't talk about it to anyone. The one person I have spoken to about it is my sister, who is a professional cosplayer, and even she makes fun of me for watching it (not that she has any right to because she is a HUGE otaku). She tells our parents, and then they ridicule me. There isn't visibly anything wrong with me, in fact I'm a professional actress, so I have to look as normal as possible. I still, however, cannot shake this feeling of being embarrassed, like there really is something wrong with me. Is this a normal feeling or no? Am I just acting paranoid?

There is no shame in liking anime. Heck if I met someone who likes it it's a big boost in my book. If it's a part of who you are you don't need to hide it. From liking anime to overly obsessed with it. Be you and Express yourself.

Nah, you're just one of the millions of fans. Just don't take it too far, anime-obsessed fans are one of the most annoying types of people throughout the internet

I don't have enough free time to get obsessed. Thank you though, I really needed that.

There is nothing wrong with liking certain things. Unless you go all out and only talk about anime or something, it shouldn't be a big deal. TBH I've liked anime for years and through anime I discovered lots of things, and hopefully soon, friends at my first convention I'm going to. I know in truth a lot of people aren't that accepting of anime lovers yet, but just be yourself and even joke about it, too. If you can laugh at yourself for something it'd be hard to get offended by others ;)
