Contradictory mind (8)

1 Name: Kuro : 2013-02-08 05:37 ID:/vQjPr+G [Del]

Hi, I'm sorry if this thread is similar to another one, i couldn't find something similar but i didn't look through the entire list. if there is something similar, i would appreciate it if someone bumped it up for me. otherwise yeah...hm. I kinda need counseling but I don't have anywhere i can go to irl.

I'm not mature or wiser, my brain is just extremely contradictory. There's this side of me which is quite normal, with mood swings and common sense and i worry about homework. but there's always this quiet complicated part of me, who just is unable to stop thinking about philosophy. ever since i was around 6, i started to analyze behavior and reason, reasons behind actions and decisions. Its become something I can't switch off, I can't blank it out. I'll think about everything from what is truth to whether true meaning exists or not. Or what will happen to our universe after the human race dies out. religion, politics, abstract emotions and the way the human mind reasons. Im only 14...I don't want to think like this, it makes me feel out of place and alone. I know i'm not the only one who has philosophical thoughts but I don't want to be in the constant state where a simple book or lyrics of a song set off extremely complicated thoughts. It may be childish sounding to you but sometimes i just want to get these thoughts out, discuss it with someone, a counselor, a friend, but i'm surrounded by people who have no interest in philosophy.

Sorry it wasnt too clear what I was looking for. I'm not really looking for someone to discuss philosophy with, i don't think that belongs in personal. i'm simply looking for some advice or counseling, to hear about others perspective on my post.

Hello. We share the same thought behavior. It started on me when I was about 14(I'm 17 now) but I am more focused on thinking about politics, the art of war and how the human mind works. Its actually rare for someone to think about these stuff.

"Its actually good." That is the mind of someone who really "cares" for the world, humanity, morality and everything that is needed to be taken care of. Most of us young people nowadays do not care about those details and just put heir minds on swag and yolo.

"It will make you look weird if you share it with those who do not care." If your friends have no interest in such things, it would be best to keep it to your self and use it for your self. Do not abolish that thinking just because your environment pressures you, if you dont want to show it, it is ok to keep it to your self.

"It is a weapon." Minding these things actually gives you and edge over the average 14 year old student. Use it where it gives you an advantage. Advantage on the long run, where you go, what to take, how to make your goals possible.

It's a good thing that people starts to think that way...As a person reaches a certain age, their minds would also start reasoning over some acts, speech and all sorts...But, beware! Too much thinking might cause you your common sense...

Just take things considerably, you don't wanna be a paranoid in front of your friends, right...?

One of your friends may not understand or want to discuss these things with you, but find some one to be a sound board. that'll do it for you for a while till people around you grow in their "philisophical interests"

talk to some one, a stream that does not move becomes stagnant. Knowledge is best when taken from different sources. just talking to some one that is not you about something can give you new insite on the subject. even if they don't care or completly understand the subject matter.

It is not rare, it is not good, it is not bad. it simply is ad is simply different (possibly). you are only weird if you feel that way. You'll understand when you're older, hopefully.

You're right, it frustrates me when the only thing people around me think about are like appearances and shallow crushes and swag/yolo/lol/rofl/ etc. I don't want to be 'normal', I'm fine with being myself in front of my friends and peers. My friends are good people..it's just they wouldn't know what to say to me. It's not even a clear problem to them, i think some people would just be like 'oh so you think about philosophy and the rest of us think about homework and partying, so? live with it'. I don't hate my mind..it just tires me out. Am I too young for this? You said it started for you at 14. It started for me from 6...and I find that its starting to present health issues. The 'loneliness' of my mind emphasizes my depression, and the constant contradictions and chaos going on brings on stress. I rely on music because I can't go to sleep properly due to 'thinking too much'.

I don't really think of 'weird' as a bad thing. All my friends are wacky and strange in their own way and so am I. There is no such thing as normal. I don't mind being 'weird' and I would rather be weird then mainstream and the same on the surface as others. Talk to someone? sigh..I'm talking here. I'm breaking my silence. Otherwise who can I talk to? Family are more close minded about these things because they've been with you your whole life. Friends who have their own lives and problems to deal with? Typically I sometimes discuss philosophy with some older students or teachers but I find that they generally treat me as a child which I am, however I am sick of beating around the bush and people evading my problems and questions. I'm speaking out here because there is NO ONE else I can talk to.

Way of thinking is where "age does not matter" is truly applied. There are so many definitions of "normal" because it depends on so many variables. I actually wouldn't recommend talking to people about it since in the first place, in your condition, its not easy to find someone who is interested, let alone someone who would agree on your perspective. You never get anywhere arguing on self created opinions/views/philosophy.

If it really bothers you, try to regurgitate them all on a special notebook or type it on a computer file, whichever you prefer. It somehow prevents the mind from looping thoughts over and over again, this could either result to (1)forgetting one thought or (2)moving on to another thought. Either way is still good.

If it keep on resulting to option 2, you might end up with a good book. ;)
