The World Is Ugly (21)

1 Name: Bailey : 2013-02-02 20:26 ID:FK3sJfUj [Del]

Has anyone ever realized that we are brain washed to think our whole life is supposed to be spent working? Elementary School, High School, College, Then Retirement/Death. At that point you either are to old or sick to do anything you love. Sure we need money but I came to the realization that all life is, is working. Come on now think about it. You go to work working for a shit boss who treats you like you're nothing every day just to be paid a few dollars an hour. It it really worth it? Are we really free people if we have to work all our lives just to be happy? i have spent all of my life so far working and lets face it... its total bullshit. I'm just tired of being pushed around by people telling me to work am I really supposed to live this way until I'm 60 something?

if we didn't do it, who would? The we don't do this because we want to, but because we have to... If everyone just stopped working and did whatever the hell we wanted to, the world would go into chaos. It has always been this way and it always will be so get over it. By the way, wrong board... Read the faq please...

Ah this is a very very good point. but i disagree with this that 'they never live before they die'. sure, you spend you entire life working or aiming for it. with school, university, jobs then retirement. does that mean absolutely nothing happens during? Does that mean we can only do one thing at a time so while while we work, at the same time we can't live? If you hate your work then just quit. Change something, don't just complain about it. otherwise yeah, you're just gonna have to keep being pessimistic and complaining about how shitty life is because you always gotta work and its because of that outlook that you are unable to be free and 'living'.

That (working) is the somewhat "default" meaning of life. How do you define life? And are you willing to uphold that definition?

>>5 I hardly think this is philosophical enough for Main. Considering it revolves around work/school, it does fit in Personal. Feel free to argue the point, though.

>>1 There's nothing wrong with working. The only problem is people who work doing things they don't like. Humans follow a society. Even in countries that aren't communist, you still have to do your part to reap the benefits. If nobody worked, there would be no commodities. There would be no food. There would be no computers or video games. There would be no resturaunts or fast food joints. There would be no pharmacies. There would be no doctors, dentists, and certainly nobody who would perform a proper surgery.

Work makes us who we are. What you get out of work is different for every person, though. If you think you're only working for money, then you've already given up on life. Work IS life, because work is living. Work is being a part of the community. You don't deserve to live in our community if all you choose to do is sit at home doing nothing.

Working makes you who you are, because work and labor are you. It is completely natural. Do major countries stereotype work and go on and on about the monetary benefits? Yes. Do they brainwash kids to think that you have to work to make money to be happy? Of course. I don't agree with any of that. However, working is a normal process of life. Working is turning your hobbies and interests into something productive for you to follow through with so you can assist yourself, your family, your friends, and your neighbors.

Without some kind of job or purpose within your community, you are nothing but 'there' and have no positive affect on anybody.

You have to be aware of your goals and if it needs work than do it otherwise do otherwise. You may realire you want to work or if not then... ok i am also here, i don't have any goals so there is nothing to do but I hope you find a goal and do what you need to achive it.

>>10 I don't think this is seeking personal help, life advice or counselling, so it does not fit on this board. To tell the truth, I don't think this fits any board. It simply states an opinion about the world. Maybe random? Anyways, I agree with the second part of >>10 completely.

>>13 Jesus, dxb o-o Where you have been? Personal posts don't have to be specifically giving/asking for advice. We have several threads on this board that don't ask for or give advice, actually. (Rage/love/complaining/worry, shit your parents say, sexuality, atheist, et cetera threads are good examples.) It can include anything related to your "Personal" life (school, work, life, etc.). Even though that wasn't the original intent of the board, that's basically what it has transformed to, and I don't see why not.

Regarding OP, he may not have intended it, but he did open a bit of a can of worms. If it gets more posts and opinions in response to his open question, then it could qualify as a small discussion about the reasons (to / not to) work. If not, then it'll die, and it'll disappear in time :L

It's definitely not a well thought out enough discussion for Main, but I think it has the chance to fit here rather well. That all depends on whether or not it's a topic that people have opinions on, though :L

And it certainly doesn't fit in Random, IMO.

Work = Personal.
If it were a little different, then it might work in Random, but it's serious enough that Personal seems to work.

Also, are brains tend to make everything worse than it actually is; we make it five times worse than what it actually is. Though, we do see the past typically better than it actually was.
