I see that as them saying that no one in their offline life cares, so they have to go as far as begging complete strangers who know nothing about them to ask to be given a reason for living.

Listen, even if you live far away, a telephone call should be enough if you are close enough to someone. Unless flyingknives is right, and you are actually not this person's cousin, but actually the person (no body knows?) All they need is to hear your voice, but there are all kinds of ways where you can talk and see eachother at the same time.
