I have seven amazing friends and I'm not popular but I'm not lonely or bullied either.I have a normal school life and I can do well with my studies.I don't hate school....What I extremely dislike about it,however,is the fact that you have to wake up at seven everyday to get ready.I can't wake up in the morning.I dunno why,but every time I do wake up,I feel terrible and insecure.I have taken a quiz and it showed me that I have depression. But I don't get it...How can a normal person like me have depression? What hurt me so much and in the end resulted like that.Sure, when I was younger my life WAS horrible! But that's over now.So why is this happening to me?Can you guys help me with my problem(if you find out what I have first)

Step one: dont trust online quizzes.
Step two: dont think about how plain your life is
Step three: profit

It could be something that your nervous, uncomfortable or afraid about doing and each morning you wake up with that weighing on your mind. Maybe it's a decision you have to make or something you need to ask somebody?
As for the depression I have to agree that 1 quiz doesn't make something legit but if its worrying you that much then you could always talk to a doctor and see what they say.

"How can a normal person like me have depression?"

Probably because depression is a natural part of being human. All people have it at some point.

I had lingering depressoin for the quite a while and the only way I found out what was causing it was writing. One of my high school english teachers made me realize that writing can be a form of therapy, It later helped me find out what was troubling me so much. I think the best cure for depressoin is to write, be with friends, and do something fun. That is the cheapest way of doing it though, since a therapist costs a bunch. Depending on how depressed you are it can take a while to figure out what is troubling you so much, though it could just be something minor.

>>10 Sometimes if you set up some really fast, heavy music, it'll wake you up. I found that when i listen to some type of metal that i can jump up real fast. You could try that. :D

Listen to Bullet For My Valentine. They are absolutely amazing. Listen to the song 'Tears Don't Fall' or 'Your Betrayal'. It helps me calm down for some reason and I fall asleep too.
Simple Plan are awesome aswell. Their songs help me with any problems I have.
Or Sleeping With Siren's cover of Iris. It's beautiful.
Just trying to help here. :)

The problem with alarms I find is that I wake up to them and quickly turn them off and fall back asleep. If your going to use an alarm I'd recommend setting it up somewhere that forces you to get out of bed and walk to it. Its not a definite sucess plan but I find that once I'm on my feet then I figure I might as well stay up. As for the pills they might be helping you get to sleep earlier but is it possible they're increasing your depressed feelings or maybe their also the cause of having trouble getting out of bed the following morning?

>>13 I definitely agree with you about alarms...And I have tried what you suggested, too.(I'm tellin you ,I've tried everything!!!)I have a library in my room and to get there, you have to get out of bed and walk.I put my mobile phone on one of my library's shelves...And you know what happened?I walked there, turned the alarm off, mumbled something like;I need to get up now and went back to bed!<<12 I tried to wake up with heavy metal once...I turned off the alarm and continued sleeping.T.T If my problem had an easy solution like that,I wouldn't be posting it here, would I?Anyway, your ideas are all smart, but I've already tried most of them...I'm starting to believe I should go visit a psychologist or something.I really appreciated the fact that you tried to help me though. Thanks a lot!

I also have the problem of getting up in the morning. Have you tried multiple alarms at once or at one minute intervals around the room? This way you get up turn on off and then before you go back to sleep another turns on. It almost worked for me...
Thinking about using something like a bass amplifier but my parents say I will make myself go deaf and wake up the neighbors.

Good luck

If your not getting to sleep any earlier with the pills, you should stop taking them. I would try clasical music at night to help you fall asleep, alarms all across your room to help you wake up, and an icecold shower in the morning to help you stay awake. It all comes down to how much are you willing to do to change?

I used to have this same problem waking up early, but this year I figured out how to solve it. My sister just graduated high school last year so up until now I always relied on her to wake me up and I would still miss my bus. Now, however, my sister has to take my dad to work and then go to community college and my mom has such an erratic schedule that I have absolutely no other method of going to school despite the bus. That being said, I became much more organized (cleaned my room, went through old clothes, organized school supplies, set up an impromptu routine for getting ready, etc.) and things just sort of worked. I've always had so much trouble sleeping my entire life, so I know how that is too. I try to tire myself out before bed but sometimes I just read or ly in bed in the dark and imagine a story until a few hours pass and I drift into somewhat of a sleep. Try not to eat past a certain time like 7:30pm or 8pm because sometimes the sugar from the food will keep you awake. I listen to the classical station everyday which sometimes helps (I adore classical music!!) and I usually think about something to look forward to for the next day. Like, when I make the bus on time and wait with my friends in the front lobby of my school, I'll see the guy I like pass by and we'll talk for a while. Thus, I have something to look forward to in the morning. I really hope this helps you, and if not I hope you'll at least be able to relate! Good luck!! :)

lol I forgot about this. Another technique I use, is I put my alarm to one of my favorite songs ("King For a Day" -Pierce the Veil/Kellin Quinn) and I turn it on full blast set to go off 5 times with other songs all the way across my room. Especially since there's cursing in this song and my parents would NEVER approve of me listening to music with curses in it, it gives me a reason to manually stand up and turn off my alarm. Since I'm already out of bed at this point I just get changed and get ready. That might help too XD

Insomnia can have a few causes.

#1, eating before bed. As mentioned earlier, elevated sugar levels can keep you up. As well, when you sleep, most of your body rests as well, stomach included. If you eat, your stomach needs to stay active to digest, inhibiting sleep for the rest of the body.

#2, electronics before bed. Avoid watching TV, or going on an electronic device, ( Smart phones, tablets, computers and the like). When you go on a device, you have thiusands of bits of information coming at your brain. The information from said devices is hard for your brain to process, thus, your brain stays active while you are trying to fall asleep, attempting to process the massive amount of info it we just bombarded with. This can severely inhibit sleep. Get off screens about an hour or so before bed, and you should sleep fine.

#3, music. Listening to calming music, rather than loud rock or pop, ( which is also a massive amount of info for the brain to process ), can encourage sleep.

#4, state of mind. If something is on your mind, it can inhibit sleep. A big test, romantic problems, family troubles, anything and in between can halt sleep indefinitely if it worries you a lot. Make sure you do something to clear your mind before bed, read, listen to calming music, whatever works.

Sleeping pills are effective to some extent, depending on the chemical used and the dosage. I myself suffer from light insomnia, and I take a pill of melatonin before bed, and I'm out like a light, and I wake up in the morning okay. If you take too much, it can still be in your system when you wake up In The morning, making it a chore to get out of bed.

As for waking up, setting your alarm to an annoying wake up setting could work. Maybe hit the snooze button instead of turning the alarm off, it'll wake you up in about ten minutes, and by then you're already woken up a bit.

That's all I got, hope it helped.

By the way, I wake up at six every day, and I make it work. And believe you me, i am NOT a morning person. It just takes a little trial and error.
