This year, i started an anime club at my school. I made a bunch of friends in other classes, one in particular was a freshman girl i'll call X. Me and X got along really well. X was pretty, nice and easy to talk to. Last week, i asked her out officially, and she said yes. But then she didn't come to school for a few days. Then she called me and said while she liked me, she wasn't ready for a relationship. I saw her at a party the next day and we hung out like usual. Before she left she told me she was sorry. This whole time i've been playing it off like it was nothing, but i really like her and don't want things to end like this. What can i do?

Respect her and don't pursue it, for now. If you really like her, be there for her. Don't put any pressure on her, just be around, be friends, give her advice, help her with homework, watch anime with her, etc. After awhile, if you think you're pretty much her best friend, ask her out again. If she says no, you probably just want to pursue other girls.

I feel like i forgot to mention something: the biggest obstacle has been that i'm a sophmore and she's a freshman, so i feel like i'll never be as close to her as some of her freshman friends. So the question is, how can i be her best friend when we don't have any classes together? I see her at club meetings/club parties and we always get along great, but i think she'd be weirded out if i hung out 1 on 1, like with my guy friends.

But guess what? There are these great devices calls phones and emails. Tends to help peeps stay in contact when they aren't face to face a lot.
Don't text her too much. Try calling her sometimes too.
