What's your best memory? (22)

What's your best memory? Who's in it and why? How does it make you feel?

My favorite memory was when I was in 5th or 6th grade and my mom and I went To H-E-B and she let me sit in the cart on the little seat and pushed me around. It's my favorite memory because it was during a more peaceful and less stressful time in our family. P.S. We got a lot of weird looks. Also H-E-B is a grocery store chain in Texas.

My best memories are from the summers growing up with the neighborhood kids, particularly my best friend.

We used to go to the edge of the woods to eat honeysuckle, catch frogs in the creek near my house, ride our bikes around the block, watch Pokèmon together, build forts, play a game that was a mixture of tag and hide-and-go-seek, get fudgecicles from the ice cream truck, get fireflies in a jar at night, and then fall asleep on the hammock together by the end of the day. I really miss those care-free days of being a kid.

I love the smell of honeysuckle, and I get a feeling of great nostalgia when it begins to grow in my backyard or when I start to see fireflies at night in the summer. These memories are bittersweet because they make me realize that things are never going to be like that again, and they remind me that someone very important to me is gone my best friend for over ten years moved roughly a month ago. I realize how many memories I have with him and how much I miss him.

I don't remember much. I guess I've blocked most of it out. My best memory is of a dream(if that counts). I was at a park with my family and my ex-girlfriend. My brother and sisters where all playing tag on the grass, my grandmother and parents where making lunch at a picknick table, and my grandfather, my girlfriend and i where sitting on a hill, watching everything. At the time, my family was very broken up. My parents where constantly moving(I don't live with them) and I had felt like they didn't care about me. My grandfather was very ill(mental deseas that targets the brain, can not be reversed, and has a 100% fatality rate) and because I didn't live with my parents, he was as close as a father as i could get. My ex-girlfriend and I had recently broken up. The dream was peaceful, happy, and calming, but that's all it was, a dream.
As for a real event(if the dream didn't count) I would have to say my grandfather's funeral. I guess the main reason was because I knew my grandfather didn't have to suffer anymore(again, long painful mental disease that can not be reversed). That and what my mother said about me while speaking about my grandfather. That small speech made me realize that A. I was not alone B. my parents did care and C. just how much I was worth to my grandfather who had always wanted a boy but never had one of his own.

There's one memory of my grandmother when she was alive. I was nine or ten-years-old at the time when I was picked on by my other cousins one day during a family vacation at my parents' home country in Vietnam. My grandmother was the only one who stood up for me when my other adult relatives goes along with the same thoughts of "kids will be kids" and let things slide without doing anything. Not grandma.

I only have one memory of my Great-Grandmother, and that is playing with a plastic London bus toy that she bought for me. I still have a London bus, in a metallic version, just to remind me of her.

When I used to live in New York (Not the city, more like a county), there was this ice cream/grocery store called Peaches and Cream right next to the elementary school I went to. I remember how my friends and I went there to hang out a lot. Until I had to move, that is.

When I almost fell off the edge of the Grand Canyon. "Take another step back, just one more, you don't fit in the camera frame, just another step you're fine." Fun times, that entire road trip was great fun.

(And yes, I ended up taking a step off the edge and well...)

Probably immediatly after graduation. My bro, his lady, my friend, and family took pictures. It was fun. That moment almost made high school worth it. I just looked at a couple of the pictures today. I looked really happy.

My best memory was (belive it or not) when I got a vision of my soul mate.

Before you bash, just listen. Supernatural stuff sometimes happens around me.
I was 10 or 13 years old and I was lying in bed and there was a light from the hallway, so I wasn't in total darkness to imagine this. But I turned over on my left side and saw this:

A boy with black hair and deep sea green eyes staring back at me.
Normally, that would freak people out, right?
But something about the boy made me calm and safe. He was there for a while, maybe 5 seconds. I remember because I kept blinking, trying to "blink him away", but nope. He was just there... smiling at me.
And then he disappeared. No, more like faded. He just faded away. But he left evidence that he was there. One word; which I think was his name: Ai.
Now most of us know the character of the word in japanese and chinese means "love".
But I was TEN.
I didn't know what Ai meant or even anime for that matter.

I got up from bed and immediately searched for it.
That's how I know today what it's meaning is.
I looked up if Ai could be a name, and I found that in Chinese it was a girls, but in Japanese it could be either gender. (Shrugs)
So I'm guessing he was Japanese. Over time I've been slowly losing patience and hope of finding him, but I'll still never forget this most precious memory.

>>15 alot of people might be skeptical of your vision but I think it'll come true. Just, maybe. Keep searching! I have one favorite memory; I mean, there's a couple, but this one seems to be dominant. When I was in 9th grade, there was this senior I knew and he was my legit FAVORITE senior in school. I secretly had a crush on him but didn't care if he liked me back or not. I think we had more of a brother-sister relationship, but still. He's just so different than most guys; I mean, the first thing he EVER said to me was "You are so f***ing adorable." How can you not love someone who says that to you?? I guess that would be one of my favorite memories of him, but the one I initially meant to write was of his graduation later that school year. We were both part of different choirs at school and all the choirs sing at graduation so we all came regardless. I made him a card and after the ceremony we got to see the seniors as we headed back to the bus. Being involved with alot of extra-curricular activities, my friends and I would get really attached to the seniors. I gave hugs to most of my graduating friends and then I came to him. My best friend was sobbing (she always does, I mean, she's the type that cries at Hallmark commercials) so I let her hug him first. Than he came over to me and we hugged like crazy! I gave him the card telling him I wanted to make something for him but didn't know what so I made a card instead and I could tell he really appreciated it. He said thank you and hugged again; he kissed the top of my head and we hugged for the 3rd and final time before I had to go to the bus. It was amazing. I've never had my first kiss before, even though I'm a junior now, and it just was insane. The last time I saw him was this past summer by mistake at the fireworks. I wasn't even supposed to go that day but a friend invited me to walk to the park where everyone celebrated the 4th of July so I did and in the last 30min or so I noticed he was there. As everyone was leaving I came up to him and we hugged and he picked me up. After he said "You are the sweetest girl in the entire world, you know that?" I said thank you and that I missed him and we hugged but I had to go. It was just...unbelievable. That kind of thing never really happens to me so I was ecstatic. I guess I wrote 3 memories instead of 1 but oh well ^_^

That's So Adorable!!!
I'm kind of sad that you two didn't advance farther in your relationship. :( But if you meet him once, you can certainly meet him again. Maybe patience is the key?

Good luck with him and thanks for your comment. I hope it comes true too. Maybe someday.

Probably one of the best memories I've had is when I thought my mother bought me a teddy bear, but really my oldest brother bought it. I still smile til this day... I'm really sad though... Because my once gentle older brother who bought me that teddy bear became this prideful person.
