What is Happiness? (13)

1 Name: Yamie !I35nGTC/bg : 2012-12-04 05:14 ID:tfvDxF+i [Del]

A few weeks ago, my older brother called me (who makes me fear for my life! TT~TT) and we had a little discussion about what "happiness" is. I assume this is his opinion, "Money is happiness. Without it, we can't have the things we like."

I haven't found my answer for what "happiness" is, but I was very disappointed in him when he told me that. I think money can become one's happiness when used correctly (like food, clothes, etc.), but he told me that money is becoming everything. It's a 50/50 chance he may be correct or incorrect...
(I found a thread on 'Main' that is similar: http://dollars-bbs.org/main/res/1346127271.html)

What do you think "Happiness" is?

It's being beaten to shit and getting back up asking for more, to see the beautiful mountains of Peru and feel at peace, working 15 hour days on weapons with your buddy's and shooting the shit then later to get some drinks and shoot the shit some more, drinking at the bar alone and finding a fellow American there to get shit-faced with the rest of the night, seeing a friend have every one she loved die or become scum to find only a few years later be happily married. Happiness is when your world is coming to and end and yet your still smiling.

Don't count on money. Everybody has its own idea of happiness, it's not so easy understanding its true meaning...
For me, it's when you feel good with the person who you are, and with everything (or almost!) you did in the present, in the past or what you're gonna do in the future. Also, when you realize the importance of the people that you love, it will be a little bit easier to mantain your equilibrium when bad things happen.

Sorry for being a bit boring, but it was a nice question to answer! :D

>>3 Thanks replying! :)

This has been on my mind for quite some time and I'm just really sensitive when talking to people. Especially, my older brother... @~@ I don't know what "Happiness" is and I feel the need to talk to someone who can help me. I can't help, but take everything serious which kills me internally and makes me depressed.

Happiness is in Love

I know you felt happiness, but you may not have realized it. One can not label happiness, but they can explain what causes it. I consider myself being happy if I have a smile on my face, even if it was for a moment.

Explaining happiness is explaining an emotion, which differs for everyone, almost like explaining what love is. Or just simply explain what jealousy is. It is rather hard to do after thinking about it, but we can give examples that cause those emotions to arise. Yet we can not describe the emotion itself very easily.

Money can attribute to happiness, but one will get bored of the things they bought after time. I bought things that made me happy, momentarily, and mainly they just keep me from getting bored now. Most of them don't bring a smile to my face, at least not anymore.

I believe that happiness means something different to each person. For example, if you help someone out and you genuinely enjoy helping others out, then that's what happiness means to you. However, think of sociopathic people. They are the most happy when they are conning someone or something along those lines.

So basically, happiness means something different to each person. If you're asking for what happiness makes you feel like, I believe that it makes you feel content of satisfied for whatever reason.

Happiness is something that must be found.
Honestly I don't believe that if some one smiles and laughs all the time that they are happy, I don't believe that happiness and money are two different things.
In order to be happy money is needed. Money can legitimately buy you anything.
If your family is the most precious thing to you, having them live well could make you happy, you need money for that.
Money is needed to keep one alive and go to the places you dream of or needed to buy peace. Money makes the world go round and we live on this world, so by that logic we need money to roll with the world and be at equilibrium.

Happiness, in my view, is something that must be earned. To find what makes you feel joyful and full of life. For me it's to live in the moment, the present. Not thinking about the past or future but just existing. I have a low self-esteem yet I'm happy with my life. It's not perfect but who's is? So my happiness comes from my friends, family, even my enemies for they acknowledge "me". The good and bad which makes the "me" now.
So I hope you find what makes you happy.

>>8 I think my older brother said those things along the lines too.

I've been thinking about this for a while and I think money is a form of happiness. Like how love comes in many different forms.... I hope I'm making sense.. lol

Through a religious & meditative stand point, you should never aim for happiness because it is short lived and fleeting.
Joy is happiness but forever present. You experience joy when you wake up feeling good as soon as your eyes wake and know that today is and will be a great day(and then it is). If you accept something negative it's like poison to your blood stream and takes the healthy feeling of Joy away, and the more negativity you take in and spew out, the harder it is to feel that "joy" again.

Well to me happiness is whatever you want it to be if you think positively you will be happy, at least from my point of view
