Taking a stand (2)

This is about standing up for things. Yourself, others, your convictions. I want to know about the times you have been in uncomfortable situations and had to decide whether or not you would take a stand. Tell me about the times when you stuck to your convictions or got too scared. I want to share these things so people can be more comfortable letting their voice be heard.

When I was in highschool I was pretty athletic, although I played no sports. in gym class we would run around the 1/4 mile outside track. if the teacher said run 1 lap and walk 3 (a mile) I would run 2 miles. not bragging just explaining that I love running. I was also a emo/goth kid. I had long multicolored hair and wore only black with boots. in that school I was an anomaly. if you weren't a jock or just average you just didn't really participate. they called those people life-haters. even the teacher would. It disgusted me. I should have reported that fucker. I ran next to the "life-haters" and said encouraging things (like any non-piece-of-shit). one day I finished my laps first and take a seat on the bleachers. soon after me some jocks finish and take a seat near me. I watched as a very obese girl running her fucking heart out rounded the corner and I noticed one of the guys next to me making fun of her and the rest laughing along. I thought "don't run: get shit. Run: get shit. WTF?!" I looked at him and said, "you're an asshole." "what?" he said. "I said your an asshole". He didn't say anything else. Not very mature but effective.
