How should I go about doing this? (6)

Hey guys and gals, I'm having a bit of a poblem. A very close friend of mine has "feelings" for me, but I can't return them. I've kinda fallen for someone else (see "not 99 problems, just one" thread) and she is actually helping me with that too. The problem presents itself when she has made a small amount of attempts to be with me. I feel like she's been such a good friend, and I owe her this much, but if we were to begin dating, my heart wouldn't be in it. It just wouldn't be real. Not only this, but I'm more of a realist, and she is more of an optimist, which means that we would have a bit of a clashing of opinions. What should I do? I fell like I have to return the favor, but I just wouldn't be able to enjoy it.

>>1 you can try to go out with her you can nrver be sure of something. You might end up developeing feelings for her. Sometimes opposites make the best couple.

Never feel like you owe someone something like that, first of all - only return the favor in such a way if you really want to, otherwise you're being dishonest. That said, as BH2 said it's not a bad idea to give it a shot either unless you're just really against it.

What do you mean by "she has made a small amount of attempts" though? Were they explicitly so or was she just being friendly and close? Note that some girls are just like that normally, so you shouldn't really try to judge her based on that just because she told you how she feels. If it was really obvious though then it's a different story.

Misuto would be correct here.

And from my own experience, don't get involved in a relationship if your heart isn't in it. There is more to be hurt by doing this than there is to be gained - Nobody wins.

It may seem cruel to deny them, but in the long run it will hurt less than if you put on a fake smile and ran with it. Be honest.
