How do you like to be comforted? (20)

1 Name: DN !MDoZmU9.I. : 2012-11-04 11:53 ID:fx0MTcMZ [Del]

As The Dollars, we talk a lot about helping other people with their problems, both physically and emotionally. So I always find myself at an awkward bridge when I attempt to comfort someone. So I ask, how do you like to be comforted? Do you like attention? Would you rather be left alone? Would you like compliments? Physical contact with a friend or loved one (E.g. Hugging)? What can a person do to make you feel happier?

simply listen to me. They don't even have to say anything as long as i know they're listening. Most the time i'm feeling lonely or like no one cares about me and/or my ideas("invisible" as my friends and i say). Sometimes all a person needs to know is that someone cares.

I want someone to tell me that it is okay to be selfish, to cry in sadness, yell with anger, whatever it takes to release these negative feelings. I want him/her to hug me like everything is going to alright and tell me that all it takes is little steps to achieve my goals. I also want that person to be a really good listener and give me encouraging advices.

There's a list of things I want a person to comfort me, but it'll take me probably more than a week to list them all... >.>

If I'm comfortable with a person, a hug is good, but usually I'd just like them to listen or be there for me without making any comments. Or leave. It really depends. If the person you're trying to comfort is a major introvert, you should first find out how comfortable they are with your company. Ask for an honest answer and try not to feel hurt. Once they tell you, act accordingly.

Cereal.

Loads of cereal.

It's an addiction really.
But Honeycombs, frosted cheerios, Life cereal, coco pebbles, all of it can turn a frown upside down.

That, and shaped macaroni. Like the kind you begged your mom to get as a kid? Nowadays they've got mainly spongebob...

A good, silent hug.
No talking, no 'it will be alright's, no 'i'm sorry's, just a good hug.

I just listen to music.
Only one of my friends can relate to my problems, and when shes gone and not around,i turn to music :3
Music can describe EVERYTHING I'm feeling whether it be rock,hip-hop,dubstep(Just random basslines comfort me XD), ect. ect....and when my iPod is taken away, THUS is the sprint out the window, down to Walmart to buy Cd's XD XD XD.

I love your answer BaccanoPanther and that pic is sweet too do you draw it? Anyway onto the question at hand. I don't actually know what cheers me up, nothing seems to work every time. sometimes laughing helps other times trying to make me laugh just makes me wanna hit you other times getting lost in music helps but even that fails sometimes as I get more depressed or I'm just too angry or too busy wallowing. So I guess my honest answer has to be I don't know

adding on to my earlier post. Music, reading, drawing, or working out(lifting weights, push ups, sit ups, etc.) can also work if my friends won't listen to me. Anything to take my mind off of the subject or burn the negative energy.

I personally would like to be left alone. I grew up in a rather rude enviroment, whereas my sister would barge into my room, mess everything up and leave. My brother would come in, try to play on my Xbox, and broke my Wii one time when he jammed it with 3 game discs.

But, if it's really bad, I either plug in my headphones and block out the world while putting on a "Bitch, I'll kill you." look, or I'll go on Gmail, write out a short story, and save it in my archive of unfinished stories and confessions.

I don't usually like asking for help, so I just write out my feelings, cry and what not, while hiding in my room. Then I just pretend like nothing ever happened, so people don't ask questions or try to immerse themselves in my problems. I'm one of those people that try to "carry their own burdens".

I don't like to be comforted, simply because I know everyone else has problems so I don't want to load all mine onto someone else. If (very rarely) I choose to cry about something, I'd usually do it while alone and thinking to myself but I usually choose to keep things to myself. Everyone has problems so I don't feel like I have the right to get depressed about mine while other are abused, raped, fighting and losing their sanity but, thats my opinion so don't feel guilty about needing comfort from others. Nothing's wrong with it.

It depends on how upset I am, but I'd prefer to be left alone and listen to music. In the household I was raised in we don't really like showing our emotions something to do with our family pride and not letting others see our weaknesses to use against use later. So sometimes when I get a hug I break down sobbing like crazy. But on rare occasions I'll want someone to just listen to me.
