Living On The Streets (25)

1 Name: confusion-is-my-continuity : 2012-11-01 23:06 ID:dv+Wl3h8 [Del]

Hi there, fellow Dollars.

I am a fourteen year old female girl, and I've been thinking alot about running away from home. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean I'll do it, I'm just thinking about it.

I would list my reasons but goodness that would take a while.

Please do not tell me, "It's a phase," "You're being an angsty teenager," or whatever, I honestly don't want to hear it.

What I want is for you to help me out a bit, please?

I'd like to know what all I'd need, tips, tricks, advice, etc, for living on the streets.

Again, please don't try to talk me out of it, don't really care. Just want to be armed with knowledge if I decide to do it.

Also, hey, if you've got stories about living on the streets (at any age) if you wanna share, go on ahead.

>>2 Really, dude?

You shouldn't live on the streets. Period. It will just get you in deeper shit than you're already in, otherwise I would have done it a long time ago.

She's not gonna listen, bro. Might as well try scaring her out of it.

...You're an idiot, OP.

I never said that. You don't know my reasons and I don't feel like telling you. They're very personal. All I asked for was tips.

Hardly possible. I'm in some very deep shit.

Like, in a gang? You're in a gang? (Not including the dollars)

The main thing in this day and age is money. If you have a job living on the streets is very profitable. I always wanted to be a hobo with a job, since you don't need to pay for any rent or utilities.

I don't know much, since I tried running away when I was in 5th grade. Anyway the first thought is the clothing to last you through the cold, so you don't freeze to death. If you have the money you could get a tent and a sleeping bag, but not sure where you would put it.

Truth is I can't see it being such a bad thing, since the cost of living is minimalized, but so are the things you have.

No, I'm not in a gang. I'm a victim of domestic violence and my mother is going to die soon of lung cancer.

My brother has asburgers and hates my guts, he'd probably throw me out into the street anyways if I decided to stay with him.

The rest of my family hates me too because they're all Christian and I'm not, so that would result in a very unhappy situation filled with bullshit and depression.

Then join one. They'll have your back, provide food, place to stay, ect. But you WILL have to get your hands dirty.

>>9 Agreed.

At least, buy a cheep apartment and stay there until you graduate from school. Live the life you want and don't listen to those who pick and laugh at you. Be the good person you are. My advice is to prove those people wrong. :l

How does one go about casually joining a gang?

14 Name: zolraK : 2012-11-02 00:52 ID:7EKhrBFZ [Del]

>>13
Really depends what gang. Some will take in whoever is tough, and get things done.
Some are born into it.
Some just need to be proved that you can handle shit. Steal, fight... Kill. You name it.

>>6 That's exactly what you said. If it's such an issue as domestic violence, sexual assault, etc., then you can contact the police, and child services will place you in a more suitable house.

>>9 Good luck getting a job when you're homeless. Every application I've ever filled out requires a permanent adress.

I'm really glad someone made a thread for this because I'm writing a book where my girl starts off in the streets. Hey just asking how would a girl who wound up in an abandoned motel with her blind friend, that's a year younger than she is and she's also very protective of this friend, cope?

Also, I have aspergers, you spelt it wrong, thanks. -_-. I relate a lot to you being the only non-christian and I'm the outside in my family. So why don't you stay for your mum? If she's got lung cancer then stick with her til the end. And domesticated violence, just call childline.
P.S Sorry if I listed some stuff already in this thread.

Here is a list of camping supplies that you should take. Although some of these wouldn't apply for "on the street." I personally would suggest going in the woods a little bit away from a city, because that enables you to still have a mean of living besides dumpster diving. Also it will make you harder to find. I honestly don't suggest running away at all, but if it is the best thing to do, then do it. Just don't forget their are services to help with these situations. If you can go through one of those it will be better then running away. Also if you can get a place to live besides being homeless that would be good.

No showers. You'd have to find somewhere and maybe pay a membership at a gym to take a shower. I feel your hygiene would seriously decline without easy access to running water to brush your teeth, wash your hands, etc. And that leads to sickness.

Have fun with that.

>>19 An abandoned motel? Let's get serious. They renovate and sell large properties like that, usually rather quickly.

22 Name: Yuki : 2012-11-02 14:27 ID:wO3zk4Op [Del]

>>21 Well half of the Motel got burned down and the owner didn't want to sell it because it was a family business and the wife died so all they had left was the abandoned motel. How would two chilren cope around the same age then? What if one joined a gang but the other one couldn't or something?

23 Name: Crisis !JjfHYEcdHQ : 2012-11-02 16:46 ID:TU1bldLs [Del]

>>22 First of all, living conditions. You'd be living with mold, asbestos, wild animals, rust, lack of any hygiene, disease, sharp objects, tetanus, lack of heat (in the winter) and cold (in the summer), and hundreds of various other problems.

Gangs should never be joined in the first place. They cause trouble for you.

Also, if I had to live on the streets, I would rather go to prison instead. TV, food, a bed, clean clothes, heating and cooling, etc.

Don't forget the very large odds of being raped and killed. Or killed then raped. Maybe sent to multiple people to get raped then killed. Or maybe just raped.

Learn to pick pocket, learn to fight, get real fast, learn to light a fire, make some friends that will have your back in a fight and learn some kind of entertaining skill (playing music or dancing). During the day perform on the street for money. At night pickpocket people who look decently wealthy and who would have a hard time fighting back. Don't ever follow anyone you don't know into a car or van no matter what they offer you. If you see a group of people headed for you, turn and run fast. If they pull out a gun or knife, scream as loud as you can. During the night, find any place that is warm so you don't freeze to death.
