I have recently had the opportunity to join police cadets in my local area! :-D But, I'm not sure whether I should go do it... You see, doing this police cadet thing, would mean not doing college. I don't like to brag, but at the moment I'm doing pretty well in my acedemic areas, so missing out on college would be quite a big decision to make, but I've always wondered what it would be like to be real police officer! So basically, I'm asking, what do you think os the better idea? Throw away my acedemic success to be a police officer? Or continue my acedemic success, hopefully getting a better paid job?

Well I think you should wait, and if you get the offer again you should accept it. Because college is important and if you get a good education you would have a better chance to get a better paying job. So I think you should just wait and finish college.

It really depends on whether or not you have a strong idea of what you're going to college for. If you're good at something and will have an opportunity to go to college for it, then don't take the job. However, if you're going to college for general knowledge, then I suggest you do take the job - but there's a cache.
Only take the job if it's an escalator system. You may start out as a cadet, but will this job give you a chance to get higher up in the police department? Do you want to be higher up in the police department? If you answered no to either of those questions, then don't do it. It's not worth missing out on college for if there's no promotion to it.

Well think of in long term what will give you true happiness, if you think being a police officer will give you that go for it, if you work hard enough you can even become higher ranked and your income will grow with that, but in the end just think of what will make you happy, because that's what truly matters.

One more thing - keep in mind that few jobs last a life-time. If you still want to take the job, remember that you can always use this job to save up and then go to college later, as well. There's nothing wrong with going to college later if you have a steady career available to you already.
