Okay, recently my friend informed me that I might have a mental condition. She forgot the name but she said it was a condition in which I perfer animated or cartoon charcters over real people. I'm here to ask if any of you know what this disorder, or anything similar to it, might be called.

Or, or, or, it could be total bullshit and your friend is trying to say they don't accept the fact that you watch cartoons, n is trying to rationalize is with some disease.

Hrmm, well that's not necessarily an actual problem, but if you are afraid of it being a real problem: Just go to your local hang-out location, be it a library, a bar (please only if you are of age and don't drink and drive!), movie theatre, skate park or whatever and just say hi to a random person and try starting a friendly conversation.

If you are too afraid of that, I'd go see a school counselor, or your favorite teacher or if that's not an option your favorite next door neighbor whom you trust a bunch and go talk to them about it.

To answer your question, what the order might be called could be any number of things, but Schizophrenic would probably be one of those things. Don't freak out about that though! The human mind is one of the least understood things in our world and mental conditions are a part of that.

Try doing one of the things I've suggested before freaking out. I've been dealing with severe depression and anxiety most of my life and I struggle with it everyday from the moment I wake till the moment I go to sleep, so the best thing to do is talk to a friend and if possible get a ton of hugs. Really getting a warm hug from someone you care about is something I've had lacking and I regret that probably more than anything else in my life.

I hope this helps you out.

OP there is a thing where you have a sexual orientation towards anime/cartoon characters(called Schediaphilia). Or you could just like anime characters and think they'd make awesome gfs/bfs and still be attracted to normal people.

Doubt you have it though. Friends aren't the best psychiatrists.

Also, >>2 This.

If at all it is true, which I doubt, I wouldn't worry about it. Mental disorders are rather fickle things, and they only affect you if you worry about them, it's just the label as a "condition" that makes it a big deal. For example, before ADHD had a name, an overactive child would just be seen as naughty, but completely normal.

Anyway, I think if you did has said "condition", you wouldn't give a damn what she thought about it anyway.

>>2 But...she loves anime and cartoons as much as I do. She just isn't attracted to the characters like I am.

Attracted as in sexual, mentally, emotionally, what.
It's not wrong to connect with movie, anime, cartoon, etc characters. I mean, typically authors/scriptwriters/etc are trying to model their characters so the audience connects with them. If you're attracted in their appearance, that's slightly strange since they're pixels, but whatever, it's not uncommon either. What exactly is SO different about you compared to everyone else who likes animes and such. I mean, a majority of us on this site are here because we liked the concept of Dollars.

You don't have a "condition". In fact, it's like you're trying to make it so that you do. Starting to sound like "The World Only God Knows". Get over it. Tell your friend to shut up, cause she's probably just trying to sound all smart and shit, and you're naive enough to actually believe that shit.

And really. You answer to the ONE person who doesn't even comment on the "mental illness" part. Read all the other comments, understand that you are not retarded, and get over yourself.

After reading a few replies I think my friend was refering to
Toonophilia, another term for Schediaphilia, I'm still not sure if she was right or not. For you people bashing on my friend, please don't, she was merely making a suggestion and I wanted to look into it because I was curious.
