Got a couple of questions I really need help in. Thank you for answering. Please show work.

7. A tin ore contains 3.5% SnO2. How much tin is produced by reducing 2.0 kg of the ore with carbon? (SnO2 + C -> Sn + CO2)

8. Acid rain is partly caused by sulfur dioxide combining with oxygen gas and water, forming sulfuric acid in the following manner
2SO2(g) + O2(g) + 2H2O(l) -> 2H2SO4(l)
How many moles of H2SO4 are produced from 1.00 x 10^6 g of SO2 and 8.55 kmol of O2?

9. Paraffin, a wax used to make candles, has a molecular formula of C25H52. When it burns, the following reaction takes place:
C25H52(s) + 38O2(g) -> 25CO2(g) + 26H2O(l)
a)How many dm3 of CO2 is produced when a 23.4-g paraffin candle burns at STP?
b)How many cm3 of liquid H2O is produced when a 23.4-g paraffin candle burns? Density of water is 1.00 g/cm3

11. Consider the reaction 2HCl(aq) + MgO(s) -> MgCl2(aq) + H2O(l). For each of the following, underline the limiting reactant and explain how you arrived at your conclusion.
a)2 moles HCl reacting with 2 moles MgO
b)7 moles HCl reacting with 5 moles MgO
c)4 grams HCl reacting with 2 grams MgO

As far as I know, Dollars isn't ChaCha

and no one wants to do your homework for you.

Go do it yourself.

>>1
It's been 3 years since I did chemistry.
Still, as >>2 and >>3 pointed out, it's not the place to ask such a thing.
The Personal board is reserved for questions about one's self and social or emotional predicament, not one's homework.
You'll learn far better by figuring out how the problem's done by yourself, trust me.
If you must get help, try cha cha or yahoo answers. Not guaranteed to give correct answers, mind you.

Although, if you'd like someone to explain the process involved in solving these problems, that would probably be a better use of your time.

But if you do understand it and you're just too lazy to do it yourself, you're out of luck.

Please explain it, yeah.

>>6
What >>5 meant is go ask SOMEONE ELSE to teach you HOW to do it. Not that (s)he's going to do it for you.

I can help explain the process, but you're going to need to tell me what you do and don't understand first :l I don't want to explain every little detail if it's not necessary since these are multi-step problems. If you've gotten to the point where this is given as homework, you should at least know how to start them, right?

>>7 I think it's moreso that this isn't a place to just get cheap easy answers, since that's sort of what it seemed like OP was trying to do

But as far as help in general goes, that's not out of line at all. In fact I'm pretty sure at some point we had a thread made for homework assistance - I'm just not sure where it is or what it was called. If anyone finds it, assuming it still exists, it should be bumped.

>>8 It was actually homework given in the summer. I decided to be a dumbass and procrastinate. Which led me to forget most of this stuff. I also had a chemistry notebook from last year, which had all of the notes, but we had to give it to the teacher for a grade. He said he'd give it back next school year. So I'm forced to try and remember as much as I can, which is not much. Just explain each and every detail if you can, it'd be helpful.

>>9 I feel as if it's kinda different from what "Personal" was intended for. And more so, it's more of a "I need help because I was too lazy to do it earlier and now I forgot it so if someone doesn't help me I'm in deep shit" kinda request than a "I've been working on it but I just don't get it" kinda request, which I feel just encourages lazy people to just get help here.

But hey, I understand laziness so I'll help. But get your act straight, kid.

It's been a while since I last took Chemistry so, I'm improvising with my old AP Chem book.

Right, so I think I pretty much gave you the answers but I showed you how. Look through anything you have or even notes ONLINE and try to figure out the other two. It's not much different from the first two.

Well, that works :|

chemistry sucks. :< no offense. it's crazy. hope you get your answers! if you answer these, i bet that you are a genius!

O.- what this looks like to me:if i have one egg and six bananas, how many pancakes will fit on the roof? and the answer is purple because aliens dont wear hats ^_^

I can help out with most math, but I am not too fond of chemistry. Though these problems don't seem too hard, just a lot of work, since all of the reaction and masses are provided. Man I hated the titration using weak acids with a buffer. That shit sucked since you only knew the acid and hydrogen ions come from all over the place.

oh yay, needed a thread like this.

I've got a teacher who never replies to her emails, never answers my questions directly and its for chemistry, which means im fucked. so the question is:

10.0g of aspirin C9H8O4 is produced from a reaction between salicylic acid and ethanoic anhydride. The mass, in g, of ethanoic acid produced in this reaction and needing to be removed before the aspirin can be put into tablet form is.

a) 1.67
b) 3.33
c) 6.67
d) 10.0

Now i know i dont need to know the forumla for salicyclic acid or ethanoic anhydride. I already know the formula for ethanoic acid (C2H4O2) and I've noticed it seems almost like a half to the aspirin forumla, not sure how they connect though
