Any ideas for my friend? (26)

1 Name: Need a name : 2012-07-22 22:59 ID:6OFs3MUG [Del]

My friend has been trying not to cut for the past few days, but it seems whatever is making her cut is winning. After every session she pulls out of, she forgets part of it and is confused. She feels strange, but I'm not sure what's causing it. Any ideas to help her calm down and get back to normal?

She's giving in again! She says she doesn't know why she does it, but she thinks it's a force of habit. That's all that has developed recently.

Has she tried therapy? Or anything else for that matter?

I'm not sure. She cut yesterday and went unresponsive to messages for hours. She isn't gone yet, but since I only know her from the Internet, I'm limited to what I can do. She seems to be fighting it as much as she can...

>>8 Yes. Read that link and try it before posting here again. I give this advice because I know it helps. I hate seeing my advice ignored. Just read the OP of that link and look it up on Youtube.

I read it, but she's gone unresponsive again. When she does this, it's up to her to pull herself out, because she isolates herself from us. I'll pitch the idea when she responds.

It'll only help if she want help.

>>15 I'm leaving. A few people here will probably just tell you the same thing I did. The rest of them will say something about online friends not being real friends or some shit like that.

Ok. Those people who say that do not understand the extent of my loyalty. Now to you: Farewell. Good luck and safe travels.

Have you ever thought of ya know, talking to her parents about it?!

22 Name: Need a name : 2012-07-23 20:39 ID:6OFs3MUG [Del]

I don't know her In real life. I know her through the Internet. I can only do so much. She said her mom was sick, though. That might he some of it.

Yes, talk to her parents, that's a BRILLIANT idea! (Intense sarcasm) It will truly only make matters worse. Your friend will feel betrayed and only steep farther into social isolation and seculsion. Anyway, I can only suggest you consonle her and try to cheer her up. People need empathy, not their parents sending them off to psych ward.

From my own cutting experiences the cutting helped relieve some of the stress. The problem is I was always depressed and never knew why, and what helped me personally get over my depression, bit by bit, was writing. I just wrote what was on my mind, and in doing so I finally targetted the source of my depression. It won't be a quick fix, since it took me a few years to find out all that was bringing me down, but it will be more of a solution. The good knews is I don't think she is cutting for death, since the times she does it seem a bit close together. Though it doesn't take much for it to become suicidal, and in my case I made one last effort before I threw everything away. Luckily that last effort paid off.

Ok, thanks. I'll tell her about this, hope she sees it.
