so my girlfriend and i were hanging out at the park, and i saw some friends of mine so i excused myself for a moment to go talk to them. while talking to them i looked back at her and saw her talking with some guy. she seemed okay with it and they were smiling so i assumed she knew him or something. my friends started to leave and right after i heard a scream.

i turned around and so the guy wrestling with my girlfriend over her skateboard. he threw her on the ground, took the skateboard and started to run. i ran after him as fast as i could, but he hopped over a fence and ran through someone's yard, then i lost him. my girlfriends okay. a little banged up but nothing major.

i dont know what to do. i feel angry and useless. i wasn't able to do anything for her, and i let the guy get away. i dont want him to be able to just get away with things like this, but i feel like i can't do anything. i see him sometimes, but as soon as i see him he recognizes me and runs away. help. i really dont know what to do. and i know what i want to do. i want to beat the shit out of him, but how can i if i cant even catch the guy? i'd really appreciate some advice, help, or anything.

You've seen him around since, so you should have a general idea of where he likes to be. Ask people if they know him. Honestly, I'd go to one of his usual spots and wait. When he got close enough, I'd beat the living shit out of him.

I don't think you should beat him up now that the situation is over. If you beat him up and take the board back, you'll be the one charged with theft and assault, not him. It's not self defense if you're the one looking for him. If the girl doesn't come forward right away to the police, also, they probably won't try to get him on the assault charge after whatever incident you start. They'll just give him a slap on the wrist for theft, maybe a day or two, at most.

First off, you discussing it here wouldn't make your situation any better if he charged. The fact that you ask around won't help, either. That would mean that it was planned and intentional, which makes whatever punishment you may or may not get ten times worse.

Don't go out looking for him. If you see him and not too many people are around, whatever. But don't intentionally set out to hurt him. It won't help anybody. (Although... Unless it's in self-defense, I really don't condone violence. The situation is over, and my biased opinion says you should get the fuck over it. However, I don't think you'd appreciate that response.)
