Trusting issue... (13)

Okey, so this is the thing. I have a secret that I want to tell my friend and she tells me that I can trust her. And I really want to belive that. However, what I'm going to tell her is something where I need to be 100% sure that I can trust her. Therefore. How do I make sure I can trust her?

If she is trustworthy then what she said is obviously true, but if she's not then she would have said that anyway.

Apart form that, she haven't doen anything to earn my trust. But neither has she done anything to earn my DIStrust.

So... okey. I'm just really confused about this at the moment. So what do you think about my situation. What do you think about trust? Since it is REALLY important that she will react the way I want her to when I tell her, I need to know.

Um... anyway. Thank you for at least reading this far.

The fact that you have to ask shows that you're not positive. If you're not positive that she'll keep it--if you don't know for a fact that she is trustworthy--don't tell her such an important sounding secret. If she has yet to earn your trust, don't give it to her.

>2 you shame yourself! >1 tell her how you feel about telling her the secret frist. If she is a good friend then she won't tell anyone.

In order for someone to earn your trust, you have to give them the benefit of the doubt and trust them first. It's a confusing concept, I know, but it's true.
>>2 It's not possible to be 100% sure that someone is trustworthy. There are so many variables it's impossible to know. Trusting someone is an act of faith. Now, some people have a better Chance of being trustworthy, but you can't know
>>1 anyways, I think it depends on the secret. Also, if this person has been a reliable and caring friend then I say take a chance. You never know what might happen

>>4 I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't tell someone whose trust I don't have an important secret. If it wasn't something (apparently) that's so big, then that's fine, and you could test their trust. However, if it's a big secret, then I don't think it's okay to give anyone the "benefit of the doubt" with it. Like you said, it depends on the secret, but if it's something important, why risk it?

depends on the secret and the way she earn ur trust but i think it best if u watch her and hav a think about how much u can trust her.

>>4 some people are too scard to trust people. But if you have been friends for a long time then that friend should value your friendship if so then he/she will be truswrthy. Because a true friend will never tell a secret that you have trused them with.

Thank you everyone for telling me what you think. I am currently trying to figure it out and I'm just confused and as you said barabiSama (>>7), I am SO scared of telling her yet I still want to tell her.
Anyway. I will keep on thinking about it. And once again. Thank you for your answers.

I think that if there is any doubt on whether to tell them this, it's probably a good idea to keep it to yourself. Learn from my fail
