Making friends..Hm..I think it depends on the person's personality really, but a key way is to smile, be polite and kind, be yourself, and mirror. Mirroring like, "I'm so happy. Why are you happy? I get to see _____~ OMG I want to see ____ too!" -hypocritical since she doesn't have friends-

Don't try to force relationships where you don't have anything in common. Scope out the prospects, find someone with something you like ie: reading a book you liked, band tee, shirt from your favorite show, hearing someone say something about sports ect. and strike up a conversation with them about that topic. Gradually shift the conversation so you learn about each other. If you don't see/hear any of these things then just go up to someone who looks a bit shy and say hi to them. They likely want someone to talk to also.

It all depends on you mainly. If you don't talk to them, they won't talk to you. So mingle with them, talk to them and try asking a few things about them. The next thing you know...BAM! You have a friend.

Honestly, just be yourself and go about life. Don't try to find friends - you'll only end up with fake ones. When you're attracted to people and they're attracted to you, true friendship starts. People will like you, and people will dislike you. You don't have to have similar interests or personalities. In fact, some of the best friends don't.
If you just want someone to hang out with, that's different than a friend. That is an aquaintance. Making aquaintances is easy - just go around looking for easy talking people with similar interests, and you'll be aquaintances in no time. But often times, they start the most drama, and they're not the most reliable.
Seriously. People will just come to you. Be natural. Don't avoid people, but don't push to be friends.
