"Like"; yes. "Love"; no.

There are some people I'll start talking to, and if I enjoy the conversastion, or it's flowing well between us, I'll start to get a liking towards them, but not love. There's such a big difference between the two terms, and people nowadays don't realize that.

Love at first sight is stupid. You may like someone as soon as you see them but that is not love. It may be attraction, but not love. Love only comes after you've known someone for a long time.

Love at first "SITE". What, do you love the Internet so much?

Love at first sight is not real unless you're in middle school. Middle Schoolers. Are. Always. Romantically. Correct.

Lust at first sight? Sure; happens all the time. Love? No. I don't know what kind of shallow definition of "love" you have, but it's pretty fucked up if you think you can fall in love with someone you haven't even spoken to before.

I don't think love at first site exists. Love is something that takes a connection between people, deeper than physical appearance, deeper than conversation and time spent together.
Love takes time and hard work.

I think love at first sight is a lie. Just pheromones to me. Pheromones make me rage, so therefore love at first sight makes me rage.

You get to know them. Not just look at them.

Ok I don't go with love at first sight, but in my realm of life, it's actually possible depending on who you are. I know this from experiance since my mom and sister are in actual love, not lust. It's almost love at first sight, but you don't dive directly into it because a love is a form of best friends having more than a attraction physically, romantically or lust related. Its a bond between two peoples spirits in a way. They just connect but it doesn't show itself. Like hide and seek, you have to find it before you say that you're in love

But no, I don't think love at first sight exists. I still believe that love is built by both people over time.

you like the person because of chat? I'm telling you, it's gonna be awkward when you meet up. for one you're complete strangers and at the same time not.
people build personas online and even i (nor you, for that matter) am not sure if these people with whom we chat online are actually the people we think they are.

Maybe once or twice online, but over-time I know it's not real. :C

I used to have minor crushes on a couple people I met when playing online games, a long time ago. But those were silly, and I acknowledged them to be silly in rather short order.

The thing is, people often mistake attraction in a platonic sense for attraction in a romantic sense, especially at a younger age when you can't discern between the two even when they're shoved in your face. It's completely possible to be attracted to someone with the intense desire to be close friends with them and nothing more, and that might be what you're experiencing.

I wouldn't think you'd actually fall in love for real, just through light chatting. It's sort of jumping to conclusions to think that way, without even getting to know them personally. As people have said in this thread, putting on airs is something most people will tend to do, whether they like it or not, on the internet, since it's very easy to falsify your personality through text alone.

I am a firm non-believer in love at first sight and in love that blossoms solely online. For me, you've gotta have some kind of interaction besides a chat room or messenger. You have to establish a friendship, and a real connection that can only be forged through real quality time. There's a couple women that I think about almost constantly, lately one more than the other, and it's because I've been around them and talked to them personally enough to create that kind of bond.
