What do you guys usually feel when you're compared to other kids by your parents? Like they're praising them and it sounds like they wish they had that child instead.

I escape into my fantasy world and cover their words with music. I ignore any of their conversations and just be myself because that's what makes me happy. :)

What I do is I put my earbuyds in, turn the volume all the way up as possible on my DS or PSP (which ever i'm playing), turn the game on, and zone out in my little 'virtual' paradise i call THE ZONE. My parents usually shut up and so doesmy brother when i'm in THE ZONE since it usually means, "Mess with me now and you'll be getting hurt. A LOT."

I do those kinds of stuff too. It's just, sometimes they go too far especially because they have 'the right' to do so and it hurts me. I have no one to talk about it which makes it much worse. They tell me to get out of my room and do all the stuff they want me to do. I hate being told what i'm supposed to do, I just want to learn how to live by myself instead of putting up with it. Even though i'm not bullied at school, I still feel no confidence in myself because of what they say.

>>4 You, me = the same. I knew you're struggling with your like! That's why I decided to bump this thread.

My parents do that too, but I guess it's their way of teaching their kids to take responsibility. Plus, I'm pretty sure they want your help around the house too. It's better than being neglected. Well, this is my opinion.. :l

Well, it makes me feel as if they want identical children in the world. Its funny actually. My mom is always saying, "you should study more like ___" (even though he watches a lot of TV). When I want to watch tv, my mom starts off with some other kid and when i bring up the "study TV kid", she gets mad. Parents really are queer.

Being compared and then having a lot of expectations at the same time are very, very annoying. I ignore them. I let it pass through the other ear. I've become an expert of tuning them out without proper equipment (MPs, Ipods). Fortunately, they've been stopping now.

My folks say I should do the chores and that crap. But when i volunteer they say they can do it. (-_-) *sigh What am I to do?
