I used to have really long hair (not past the shoulders, but still pretty long) that took me forever to grow out, and today my dad told me I had to get a haircut because he said people with black hair aren't allowed to have long hair because then they will look Vietnamese and apparently the Vietnamese aren't smart. So he told me he already set an appointment for today, and when we got to the haircut place, he told the person that was cutting my hair to cut off everything above the ears. So now I have a bowl cut and look like a 7 year old Chinese kid.

I think you have every right to be mad. But what you can do is just grow it out again. What I don't get is why you're dad would even say that? There are plenty of girls(and some boys) who have long black hair and some of them aren't even Vietnamese. Also, what gave him the right to call Vietnamese people stupid anyway? Just try to talk to him about it and if it doesn't work then just focus on growing out your hair again.

I think you have every right to be mad, best thing to do in your situation is to tell the hairdresser to cut it medium length. You're the one sitting down in the salon and the hairdresser has the responsibility to listen to do what you say. I would go get a picture from the web of a good medium length hairstyle that you're ok with and show it to your hairdresser. I highly doubt your dad is gonna sit there beside the hairdresser telling him/her what to do.
I went through this situation before and I know how it feels. (True story, I wanted to get those asian hairstyles, the kpop&jpop ones. My parents didn`t receive it so well.) It will not turn out bad if you get a picture with an appropriate hairstyle and show it to your hairdresser. Please post a picture of your new style!
PS Your dad is indeed racist and I'm viet so I'm pretty offended. Nevertheless, I encourage you to take a stand in what style you want, you need to find a medium to satisfy both sides. (You and your father)

im considered black.(just say that cause im a strange mix) with my hair that i made straight, my dad thought i was trying to be whatever and gave me so much trouble, i got a hair cut, itl look better as time goes by, but that is pretty messed up, its alright though, i use my hair as a napkin, so just have fun :)
Your father sounds like a racist douchebag, by the way. Don't take any offense, but I probably couldn't handle dealing with him for more than a minute or two.
