Depression? (11)

I'm probably being stupid by making this thread because perhaps this is insignificant..but..

Other than the fact I have an attention issue, I can't really explain why I feel so sad, useless, and lonely and it's not hormones because my brother wasn't like this when he was my age, but I'm feeling sad and lonely at random moments and sometimes situations trigger these feelings and this has been happening for a..year and a half or so? (Can't remember). This has really been annoying my mom and she says I'm depressed and that I need to think on the bright side, however thinking "on the bright side" isn't as easy as she thinks and she probably doesn't understand how hard this is for me, and she's just making everything worse. Sorry if this is vague, I'm extremely tired, and I may not reply back. Can I please have some advice? (I feel stupid for making this.)

Don't feel bad its ok. Sometimes when your feeling down and in a hole it is hard to see the better things in life but, there are people who unfortunately have it worse than you. So when your feeling down remeber that and then start listing the good things you have in life. I used to feel this way sometimes too. So I would list the good things andd it would help me feel better.
- Yea my dad left me but, I have my step dad who loves me very much
- Sure my family is kinda poor but I'm grateful for what I do have
- I have friends who are awesome and are always there for me
- I'm grateful to have a roof over my head
- I'm grateful and happy for all the little things in life ^^
Alot of my friends have it rough and this helped me to realize how good I have it ^^
So when your feel down just list the good things in you life. Just let me know if theres anything I can do for you, we're all here for you.

I completly understand, and its hard to deal with depression some times, because its like drowning in sorrow. However, there are ways to get outta the funk. Just find something to donate your time to. Something you love doing, if you write, or draw, or love music then just express yourself. That wroks for me.

Well when I try to be happy I usually do the things I love to do, write poetry, draw, play minecraft, etc. But then my mom just tells me do study, study, study and she doesn't notice I'm not a mindless drone offspring that was created only for studying. I do feel grateful for the things I have, a warm bed, an education, the clothing I wear, a sibling, friends, and how lucky I am compared to other people.

>>4 My moms like that too T.T but, in all honesty, she doesn't do it to be a butt. She just wants you to be sucessful and have a good life/career and y'know all the other crap parents worry about.

>>6 Then talk to her about it I'm sure she'll understand or take your words into consideration or let her know that she doesn't need to treat you like a child and keep reminding to do stuff like that.

Contrary to a lot of people's belief, I am a great example of a depressed individual. I used to think of myself as utterly worthless. However, even with my ability to fly into a hopeless and sometimes pointless depression, I do have something that helps me push past it.

My family and my friends.

Support is all anyone really needs. If we have backup, we can do anything.
