A medical concern (11)

1 Name: Brad : 2012-03-21 19:56 ID:iaUlc/V3 [Del]

I have not had a bowel movement in about 8 days. I do not feel much pain, besides some cramps once in a while. I have also lost about 15-20 pounds. I am starting to worry something is wrong. Please if you can help, please reply.

I did not know where to post this either. There is no medical thread.

Eat more fiber, and talk to your doctor.

Major medical concerns are things you need to bring up with your doctor. This is a thing most people should understand; we're a community, not an encyclopedia.

I could guess you have anything from constipation to tapeworms, but I really honestly have no idea. I doubt anyone else here would have a conclusive response, either.

>>1 Eight days is a long time to go without having a bowel movement and losing that amount of weight during that time is definitely not normal. Seriously, go see a doctor.

No medical thread cause odds are, not many doctors on this. And last time I had something like that it was from eating a whole lot of something new, my stomach didn't like it...so your body might just be taking forever to digest something new, but if not, GO SEE THAT DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!

I would try eating some Activia yogurt along with more fiber in-take. I know places now cell fiber gummy chews as well. 8 days have been quite some time though.

Have you been urinating more often? Drinking more water/feeling more thirsty? Have you started to eat more, but still not gaining any weight? Sudden weighloss paired with frequent urination (because of more intake of water) could be sign of hepatitis. But hepatitis also pairs with flu like symptoms - but sounds like you are feeling okay except your bowel movement. Hepatitis doesn't really explain your bowel movement though.

To be sure, definitely go to see doctor. He may give you laxatives to help. Ask him/her to see if you need any further examination.
