My Horrible Family (19)

1 Name: *Mimi* : 2012-03-18 01:53 ID:Fe7SXow7 [Del]

My dad`s a drunk.

My mom`s neglectful.

My sister`s annoying.

My stepdad is abusive.

I just can`t seem to get a break in life. The other day, my stepdad threatened my mom with a knife, then threatened to kill me when I tried to interfere. It`s times like theese when I wanna yell at the people who tell me "god is always with you." Because y`know what? God`s never been there for me. Not that I believe in him, of course~

Anyway, I`m feeling uber-stressed right now, and just wanted to pour my feelings out~

I'd say that most of what you're saying you believe out of stress beyond anything else, so the issue at hand is your family.
Beyond sounding cruel in the face of your most obvious adversity, you seem to look at this situation by a singular perspective. You do not see the purpose of why your father drinks, and it seems to become an issue to you when he finally becomes abusive. You find your mother neglectful, when in having an obviously troubling home life you have difficulty discovering why her mind is so heavily occupied? As for your sister, well you two seem to have the fairer bond, for anyone here can call their siblings a legitimate annoyance. Either way, you've thrown us the skeleton of your problem, and there's not much to seek into that could not be construed as a possible insult. Thereby I open myself up for retribution. Sink in your fangs and tear me apart, for who am I to criticize your life?

The only one I'd legitimately be worried about is your step-dad... Step-fathers are usually complete dicks... since they don't see you as their child.
Your father is probably a drunk because he is depressed or is as equally stressed out as you... Maybe you should try having a heart to heart with him at some point. Maybe, who knows...
Your mother is probably neglectful because she fears for her fucking life, your stepfather sounds like a cocksucker.
Your sister is your sister... siblings get annoyed with eachother, thats life.

In any case, stress is bad for the heart. Try to relax from time to time. It may be difficult, but if you take time out of your day to not stress about these things, you'll be a lot healthier, both mentally and physically.

I'm not a very religious person, but I feel it needs to be addressed.

It isn't God's job to personally watch over every single person that's in a bad situation. That would be incredibly silly, wouldn't you think? When people say God is always with you, what they mean is that there is always someone you can turn to spiritually if you need to vent or find some amount of solace in, even if you think it's particularly superficial.

But I'm not going to tell you how to think, religiously. Just thought you should understand the concept.

And everyone else said more than I could on the other situations.

>>4 I think that's a bad generalization to make. A stepfather may just see his new wife's children as an added nuisance, but I highly doubt that's usually the case. Other than that, I agree with your post.

Um if you don't mind me asking but if you're stepdad is abusive(especially since you said he threatened not only your mom but you as well with a knife) why don't you call Child Protective Services or tell a teacher at your school? It'd be easier if someone from the authorities knew what was going on and did something about it.

>>7 Agreed, I'm only speaking on behalf of personal experience. So thats why I added the term 'usually'. Usually, because its happened to me three times.

>>1 The apostraphe key is the one next to your right pinky, dear. It's an eyesore when you use the wrong key.

Get child services involved to get your step-dad kicked out. After that, welcome to the life of a normal teenager. Your life isn't that bad - trust me. It may seem stressful, but there are plenty of people with lives that are a shitton harder. Be grateful.

If you put your problems into a basket with the rest of the world's, you'll want to pull your own out the second you see how hard everyone elses' lives are every time.

>>12 (ice) *smacks you* Sorry, I know your trying to help but that aint the way to go!
Wow, I sound like a hippie but awh wells.

Anyway, try the child service thing to deal with your stepdad. But don't try to rely solely on comparing your life with the shitty life of others. Because, if your life starts turning to one like there's, then what would you do?

I know this sounds lame and cheesy, but please PLEASE try to see the little things in life that make you happy. And pouring your heart out to ppl you trust was a good step too. :D

And one more thing...if you ever have the thoughts of "Its my fault" or something because of something between your parents, just know...its probably not. Well I've said enough. :P

Call the Child Protective Services? I dunno. Maybe not the best thing to do, but it might at least get you out of there, if that's what you want. I've always just dealt with my family problems.

That situation totally sucks, if child protective services isn't working out try moving in with another family member, or a close friend. I'm personally Idealistically Christian, and I'm not trying to force my religion on you or anything, but I believe that yes and no god is all around you. I know that doesn't make much sense but I believe that sure gods there and watching but he not here making miracles or whatever. I believe that you have to figure out things on your own, to be grateful for what you do have, and just keep moving forward. I understand that must be really hard especially for the situation your in but, we're all here for you if you ever need any help.
