I've been interested in North Korea after reading The Girl with Seven Names by Hyeonseo Lee and In Order to Live by Yeonmi Park. I highly recommend either or both of those books to get a good look into the lives of ordinary North Koreans, and why so many defect from the country. I included here a bit of a more recent article about the current strained relations between North Korea and the U.S.
