Do you guys know about the huge black hole they found? They changed the google image to show a black hole because of it! Lucky it’s far away so we won’t get sucked up by it. But it makes you wonder how they didn’t see it before now!

It’s pretty amazing but scary at the same time , makes you think what would happen to us if our sun decides to become black hole as well

They didn't see it until now because our tech wasn't advanced enough to see it. Also, it takes a good while for us to take an image like that considering how far away it is.

To be accurate, they didn't discover the black hole.
They took a picture of it, and it matches their models.

Until now, they've only seen the effects of black holes.
Indeed, they are tiny. So, as explained above, you need very special stuff to picture them.

How can you take a picture of something that obsorbs light?

The black hole is dark, but there is a glowing ring of matter around it.

I wouldn't mind getting sucked up in a black hole. We don't know anything about it anyway. Do people die getting sucked in it?

Насколько я помню, если человека засосет в черную дыру, то произойдет разрыв, уничтожение человека приливными силами. В этом плане большая черная дыра безопаснее маленькой, т.к. большая опасность сосредоточена в центре черной дыры.
