"Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington has died aged 41, LA County Coroner says.

The coroner said Bennington apparently hanged himself. His body was found at a private home in the county at 09:00 local time (17:00 GMT) on Thursday.

Bennington was said to be close to Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell, who took his own life in May.

Formed in 1996, Linkin Park have sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and have two Grammy Awards.

The band had a string of hits including Faint, In The End and Crawling, and collaborated with the rapper Jay-Z."

This news REALLY hits home for me. My love for anime started with an in the end amv for dragon ball z. So since I was about 11 I was obsessed with anime and this band. It's safe to say I wouldn't be who I am today without Chester

Wow... I can´t believe this... this is so... Linkin Park was one of my favourite bands... played in a band myself, played some of their songs... but in the end it doesn´t even matter... T.T

this was very sad to me as same reason as posted before. I used to watch a lot of Linkin Park AMV and it how I found out about a lot of animes

I heard about it when the news first came out. It hit me pretty hard. Been listening to Linkin Park since I was a kid and still do now. Hearing Chester's singing was like a staple of daily life for me, including the new album. Looking back, I think some of their songs influenced some of my own writings. Definitely played a huge role in shaping who I am, like what Katsuo said.

I still cant believe this though. Why would he take his own life?

The same thing happened when my uncle died while riding his bicycle, one of his close friends committed suicide leaving his wife and children.
