I know this news is very old but I feel this topic needs to be brought up.

In wake of the most recent capture of the Mexican drug lord, El Chapo, Mexico seems to be ramping up their war against his underground empire.
El Chapo is a mexican drug lord that has reportedly been selling illegal drugs since he was 15 as he was born to an impoverished family, he was on the run recently after escaping a prison and in secrecy gave an interview to Sean Penn, an actor and director, on behalf of rolling stone magazine. Here's the link to the full article. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/10/world/americas/el-chapo-mexican-drug-lord-interview-with-sean-penn.html
he was captured and arrested in early 2016 and has been moved to the U.S till his punishment has been decided.

His cartel, the Sinaloa cartel, has now been fractured into many splinter factions that have been fighting for control of the drug trade in Mexico. this has caused increased homicide rates in the country, the highest since 2011, and sparked the Mexican forces to increase their efforts against the gangs.

Lets hope Mexico's forces can finally put an end to the Sinaloa Cartel and stop the needless bloodshed. I will end this post with a graph, it shows the civilian deaths in Mexico and compares it to the the civilian deaths of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

I'm Mexican and yes, it is true, even if I did not see it with my own eyes, it happens all the time. This should really be stopped at all costs.

Is there any details I missed? I'm really interested in the topic but I can only go so far I can go from biased news sites and such.
