Could you please add more details, like why they decided to bomb it for those who don't know the full story?

Long story short, the bomb was the largest, most powerful non-nuclear bomb that's been made, and the US dropped in on a specific ISIS controlled location. CNN story here: http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/14/asia/afghanistan-isis-moab-bomb/

>>3 In fact the USA have the second largest, most powerful non-nuclear bomb called "The mother of all bombs", while the Russians made one bigger called the "Farther of all bombs".

That's next after Mother and Father have been dropped.

For such a big bomb, it is surprising that it didn't kill more people than it actually did. The United States dropped the biggest bomb to get roughly 40 confirmed kills. The best part of the strike was the number of tunnels they were able to destroy, but was it truly worth it? At least, was using the "Mother of all bombs" truly needed for this strike? If you ask me, it seemed like overkill.

>>6 Military use bigger bombs for rural areas to compensate for how spread out the target is. The intent of this disproportionate attack was mostly for demonstration in destroying the lot instead of getting a high body count.

>>7 true that, they said it's for demonstration and something to serve as a deterrent to prevent any more attacks from the rebels as i've heard

A demonstration makes sense. As a warning sign to others who may "oppose" us, the Americans. Still, I feel like using larger weapons would be better when there are more people but I am not skilled or even knowledgeable in the way the military works and operate.

But honestly, I don't feel like this would be nearly enough to stop ISIS. Instead I feel as if it would upset them and make them wait to fight more. After all, no one wants to gain a lot just to lose it all. But I guess it is good that America is being more active in trying to get rid of ISIS? While I may not understand how the military works, I understand that is pretty good.
