A gay couple caught having sex in their bedroom were arrested by the Shariah police (some sources say vigilantes, who were violent) and were detained to be put in trial. If founf guilty, in addition to 100 lashings they have already received, they could face huge fines and at least a few years in prison.

A little background info: Aceh is the only province in Indonesia that implements Sharia law. A group of 'moral police' patrols the area day to day to ensure there is no breach in the religious codes. A violation, such as women walking around with men who are not their husbands, or couples being too intimate in public, will get you a few public lashings.
Some countries have declare this atrocious and call for human rights, but the Sharia law in Aceh is applied with the intention to encompass even private lives (Indonesians are not big with privacy anyway). National government intervention will also be difficult since we have a non-interference policy with the local government.
