South Korea's President (6)

So South Korea's president, Geun-hye Park, was impeached a few days ago on December 9 for being a main participant in the political scandals. Rumors of cult activities and leaked classified information didn't help her case either. There had been massive protests against her demanding she step down from her position as president, and it finally happened when parliament voted to impeach her. She had offered to step down in April, but her offer was ignored and she was impeached. A shame, really that the first female president of the country failed so terribly at her job. Wonder how that will influence other countries when women run for president. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-37882512 http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-38259984

As a female, I would like to think that the world has better opinions of females in power but I know that isn't true.

I have the feeling that once (or if) this news hit the big news channels (FOX,CNN,etc.) people will start to use this as a reason to keep women out of office. I'm not trying to get all "feminist" at the moment but women still have a long way until they have equal rights. But I am curious as to why they didn't accept her offer to step down. That is fairly interesting in my opinion.

I don't think it as much as a "shame" as one would make it out to be since there is a list of Korean presidents who have been caught in various types of scandals. But either way, I will somewhat keep up with this story. I am fairly interested to see how this works out and what the end results are.

Comparisons drawn between the President's "friend" and Rasputin are pretty accurate, I would say.

It's not so much gender, race, or politics so much as it is the fact that a shady religious figure had a national leader around their fingers, access to classified information, and was influencing the national government. It very much is cause for concern, especially in a nation with a history of crooked Democracy.

I'm interested to see how the DPRK spins the story with their propaganda machine.

President Park was already a very unpopular president, and her impeachment could give left-wing parties a chance at more power, with possible closer relations with China instead of The US.

Either way, it's a shit show.

I don't know much about Korean politics but if what you are saying is true, the US is surely going to have some major problems with China in the future with a Trump as president. But yeah, this is certainly going to be an interesting turn of events.

Can't wait for this horrible show to play out. Let's just hope America doesn't just die out as a result.

>>4 With God-Emperor Trump? This train has no breaks. We'll win so much we get tired of winning.

At any rate, better ties with China doesn't mean the US looses South Korea. They loves Americans, and Koreans themselves aren't too privy to domination by China (or Japan), given their long history.

Anyways, it's up to the Korean people. Many were openly dancing in the streets to hear that their President was being impeached. That tells a lot about the general public opinion.

I should look more into Korean politics. My primary interests are in Japanese and Chinese politics and Russia/Eastern Europe.

>>5 I guess so but with overlord Trump in office I think America's ties with China are going to get a little shaky sometime in the 4 years. South Korea may love us but I think China might soon come to hate us XD But that's just how I feel~

I need to get more into all politics really, there aren't really my thing but it would appear that some pretty interesting things happen in them (sometimes.)
