Patients are denied cataract surgeries (3)

Patients (especially elderlies) are now encouraged by hospitals to fund their own cataract surgeries at 3-4 times the usual amount to skip the queu.
It is thought that the reason is because NHS (a health insurance company, presumably) has a really long wait list and strict eligibility criterias for patients.
However, NHS also offers free fertility treatments that cost around £34,000 (in contrast to £800 cataract surgery) for patients undergoing sex change treatments.
Charity organisations are worried that old people become increasingly blind and lonely as they are being denied treatment.
