Hey guys.
I don't know if u already heard something about but here in Brazil 30 men raped a 16 years old girl. What happened made half of the coutry sick but there are those who say that it's the girl's fault. In Brazil women still in a very depreciated position compared to men and I' wondering is there anything dollars could do. Maybe an international opinion may change somthing around here. Anyway, I'm
just bringing out the topic.

Rape is never and should never be thought as being the girls'/womans' fault.
No i dont know anything about your country or the case,
However as an individual in a country where this has happened,
I can say that going and seeking help shouldnt be met with any hostilities or a view that does blame the victim.
Seeking and punishing the rapist should be priority number one
But some countrys do not pursue this same view, they take the case and allow it to go cold (had example/will post later)
Or they half-ass prosecution and allow him to walk or gives him the minimum sentence.
The only clear way to combat this is peaceful protest of your government/police or group(s) that do not protect females against rape. Bring the issue up throughout your entire community, your entire town via pamphlets or posted notices, organize 'neighbourhod watches' to patrol.
Now sometimes it boils down to it being a sick fuck who gets pleasure from the act, unless someone is there to help, it'll happen.
Disgusting acts of human degradation are apparent everywhere, problems like this happen, it takes the collective to change social behaviour, and it deffinetly will not happen overnight.
if only half of your country is sick after these events, what does that say of the other half?
They agree? Or are so desensitized that they no longer care about society? Are they realists that recognize the futility of mass publication of these events?
>>5 'should be doing more than usual'
Like what? Im a half a world away, yet the UN has a worldwide presence, they're probably on this exact issue.
>>6 yea i do, 2014/ or 2015 a young woman attending a university in my city was approached late at night, attacked, and raped, the media had highlighted her mode of dress was provocative, implying she was at fault. If i remember correctly the assailant was never caught, but there were moves made to increase security in high risk areas.
A month after wards, another rape, on the other side of town.
Again opinion changes nothing, action does.

We have a term expressing our distaste for these situations

Less so about the case itself, but I have such a strange opinion on the culture surrounding "rape".
Yes obviously I think it's a terrible thing in its own nature.
But the culture we face today, I see stupid comments like "women can't rape men" "Rape by definition is a man sexually abusing a woman without consent" "Rape isn't sexual abuse without consent, its doing anything to a woman without consent"

Doing things like this make rape in my opinion less valued as something serious.

In terms of the case though, I didn't read it, but I don't care what it says, its not the girls fault.

Rape is a very difficult issue to tackle. Society has been desensitized to it essentially and believe that women in particular should try their best to avoid such situations by "not dressing prov actively" or "not drinking much/drinking at all". All this is kinda bs because who are we to judge and determine what is appropriate or not for women to wear? And sometimes it doesn't even matter, a good friend of mine was at a party. She didn't wear anything provocative and all she had to drink was a cup of sprite (because she was the sober driver)and sadly she was raped. Even with all the precautions what happened to her was unavoidable.

We can't simply keep issuing warnings and checklists on 'how not to get raped" (which, if you think about it kinda says in itself that women are at fault for being rape which is a big no no) when the issue really lies in the mentality of society. Sadly, the world still collectively does not view women as highly of men and this mentality is spread among young men which sadly leads to issues like this occurring all over the world. Like Dusk46 said before, some kind of action must be done to change this, but the question is what can we do?

another case related, "dont want to be raped? shove this uncomfortable thing into, and keep it there 24/7"
literally what i was told. URL
im a guy, but hard plastic that you have to keep in you throughout you whole day? i mean ladies that'd be uncomfortable right?
but its a step in the right[?] direction, i'd rather laws be passed where women can and should carry sharp instruments around to cleave off any would be assailant, and trained for self defense and such.
