MANILA, Philippines - The farmers wanted rice and drought-resistant vegetable seeds as El Niño had dried up their crops, and refused to leave the highway unless their demands were met.

As police crowd dispersal units moved in yesterday to clear the road, violence erupted. Rocks were hurled and gunfire erupted.

When the smoke cleared, a farmer lay dead, another was dying and about 30 others were wounded. Police reported that about 40 of their personnel were also injured, two of them critically.

WHY FARMERS??!!! THEY CULTIVATE YOUR FOOD DAMMIT!

It is really barbaric to attack unharmed farmers and weaker then you too. Such things should be resolved with talking or negotiating. That's what I think.

WHAT'S WITH EVERY COPS MAN!

Ahhhhhh Police make me mad these days... I never have really had any respect for the police much, upon hearing all these stories. Recently, a single male police officer was arrested (or fined, can't really remember) for pepper spraying a group of bikers who were just cruising down the highway. They weren't going above the speed limit or weaving in between cars like a bunch of madmen, just driving. Cops are too privileged in my opinion since they're part of the 'law enforcement agency'.

BIGAS HINDI BALA... That is the essence of that incident.. And to think that the Gov. herself did not do anything..

but when sacks of rice from different groups arrived she said she felt insulted? I say she is a total douche that woman.

I really hope that this issue can be resolved soon, but judging by the government's side, I'd say that we aren't looking at justice in the near future.
Such a sad state for our country :(
