It's just as it says in the title.... The parents of this girl started frantically worrying about her, and when they found her, they were afraid of her slitting her writs or something, and so called the police, but they ended up shooting her...... WOW.

I sympathize with the cops barely because if someone came running at me with a knife I would want to defend myself. However I wish the police were given brief intervention training. When dealing with someone in a mental health crisis, it's very different from dealing with a criminal
This whole situation is a grim one indeed. Like it or not there is a serious problem with the law enforcement here in the states. This is painfully obvious. Everyone here is entitled to their own opinions, so please hear mine out. The cops handled this situation completely wrong. They should own up to it and be dealt with properly. Discharge them from service and make them go under mandatory training on how to properly deal with mentally ill civilians and how to better handle melee weapon encounters. I live in the states and the way our police force handles encounters where one person is armed with nothing but a KNIFE while surrounded by officers and still ends up dead is appalling. We americans pride ourselves on being brave and etc. but yet, our police force can't handle one person with a knife without having to kill him/her? yeah okay. Please everyone take the time to learn some humane morals and ethics please. Defending these ill prepared asshats in uniforms doesn't help the cause to better prepare them or hold them accountable.
Woah woah woah. Did the cops just helped end her life? Well, she is certainly armed but is trying to kill herself not others. This is really stupid.
Did the parents tell the police the situation? If they did, the police should seek for a suicidal specialist instead of taking the situation to their own hand. Didn't you watch enough tv of people trying to jump off a building?
Or try ways to pin her down with minimal harm... Shooting her is the stupidest attempt with 0% of solving the problem.

>>9 I wish they would but they don't get the training for mental health crises. They only get training on how to deal with criminals. So when people who need mental health professionals get the cops called on them it doesn't end well...

>>15 Not all law enforcement is this bad. It's a tragedy that some people are, but a lot of law enforcement officers risk their lives helping people. You just don't hear about the good things the police do (does?), since it's simply expected of them.
I get bored of Police they're just corrupt adults. It's not like this is the first time when the Police did something like this you must be more afraid of Police than ISIS. A lot of people die by the hand of Police. So if you're in trouble don't call the police. J
