Here we go again, Indonesia (15)

The Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI), a pretty powerful clerical body (politically speaking) intends to ban muslims from wearing clothes that signify other religions. Which apparently extends to santa claus costume as it's interpreted as taking part in Christian celebration and considered immoral. They can't make it legal, of course, but we know how it'll turn out.
Someone tell them that grandpa Santa is in fact, just a bonus for Christian Christmas with barely any religious significance.

I've said it before and I'll say it again
Islam is a religion of conquest

>>3 Like nothing ever bad has happened in the name of Christianity . . . oh wait it has, fact is it's not all of Islam, it's a radical sect of Muslims doing this in the name of Islam, so get your facts straight silly.

>>2 fyi The word 'hijab' in the Quran has nothing to do with the Muslim women's dress code.

>>1 realistically that kind of safety precaution is only going to help a little bit.

Just as santa outfit has nothing to do with christianity.
It's all about public perception.
Actually, I don't think it'll amount to anything major, but the MOBS that emerge from time to time will.

Ah... Guys, could we be kind to any members who may practice Islam? I don't personally, but not all Islamic people are extremists. I'm not saying anything about the thread, but when you reply to this please just be careful about your wording and such. Thanks!

Isn't it more fun to hurl blatant insults at each other rsther than talking behind each other's back?

>>7 Well, I don't personally find any fun in being purposefully mean to someone... But I suppose being direct is better than sneaking around!

It's hard to do that anywhere irl so I'm hoping to at least do that in anonymous websites.

>>6 We're all free to express our opinions and beliefs, it's just that sometimes a blunt and direct opinion comes off as rude.

Websites like these are a way to freely express yourself (though your IP address certainly isn't off the NSA's and FBI's radar unless you use Tor!), without having to worry about being cuffed and jailed for saying what you believe unlike IRL.

I am honestly afraid to speak my mind IRL to anybody aside from my family regarding topics like these, exactly because you don't know when some bozo decides to report you for "hate crime" or whatever crap. And it's wrong; it shouldn't be like that, you shouldn't be afraid. This is why websites like these are great for discussion.

If you believe Islam is a violent religion, you're allowed to voice your opinion, that's a totally fine way to state it. You're not insulting anyone, it's just an opinion/belief.

Sorry, but I had to say this, because there's nothing that bothers me more than not having the freedom to express your beliefs and opinions. It's bad enough that our freedom is being taken away bit by bit in recent years here in the West (especially USA, glad I don't live there, among other reasons).

>>10 I think I may have worded it wrong.... I don't mean that you can't say anything that could be taken offensively. It just seemed to be escalating pretty fast so I just wanted to remind everyone to be nice. I definitely don't mean to take away anyone's freedom of speech.

>>8 I'm sorry for any miscommunication! It just seemed like this was going to be getting out of hand and I just wanted to make sure it didn't... I guess I didn't do that in a good way, huh? Well, I'm sorry for that! You do you!

>>11 No worries, Mako. I got a little carried away too, I tend to on things like this, so I'm sorry if I came across as harsh ^^;
