I don't really know what else there is to say, but I live in the state of New York. And as of January 2016 up till now, there have been many knife attacks on random citizens. People being slashed or stabbed, usually in the subway. But it doesn't add up, it's a bunch of random people doing it to other random people.

As someone who takes the subway often it can be terrifying just to go outside in fear of being attacked, what do you guys think is a good idea for people to protect themselves?

Would you mind sharing a link to the News report, Oni? :)

Always be aware of your surroundings. Subways are crammed, but take a look at the people around you, and always have an eye out as you're traveling on the subway as well. I recommend against walking/riding with earphones or headphones, or texting/chatting or otherwise having your eyes glued to your phone. It's a dangerous world we live in unfortunately, so ya gotta be on the lookout.

And this is a personal choice here, but I carry a pocket knife in my purse, to be on the safe side just in case (better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it).

Best thing you can do though, always be aware of your surroundings, the people around you, what's happening and if there's anything or anyone suspicious, report it.

That's my advice :)

I suggest if your old enough to legally own one carry a taser or pepperspray just in case or you or someone else is attacked.

However if you want to look into these attacks I suggest checking the time of when they are attacked as it could be an attackers common route they take. If they are I suggest you possibly try to avoid those times.

Anyway the chances are slim if you are attacked due to the numbers on a train but its never bad to prepare just in case. Also don't carry a knife or else you might get framed :P

>>3 XD Taser and/or pepperspray is indeed a better (and perhaps more sane) option than a knife :P My level of (in)sanity is clearly showing XD (Though my pocketknife is useful for other things, not necessarily defense lol.)
Reminds me, I should probably get a taser/pepperspray at some point, I keep forgetting.

And yes, checking times (and perhaps certain stations) is also an excellent idea :)

The rest of my advice still applies lol.

5 Name: Sony-chan : 2016-03-12 17:58 ID:6HFetv5N [Del]

A raser or pepperspray is a good idea. Maybe martial art like karate or somethink would help to feel save. It´s a devensive sport so it would only be to protect yourself and you can do this even if your under 18.

But always have an eye on your environment is also important.

I hope this attacks will stop soon.

6 Name: Asculo : 2016-03-13 03:22 ID:tGkecjVE [Del]

a taser is good but there are some self deffense experts that say wasp spray is better higher concentration and can be used at greater distance

7 Name: Neko !UU8hnqLjMY : 2016-03-13 03:44 ID:wDiCQidX [Del]

Actually.
If your assailant gets the preemptive strike in a bad place and then you panic, consider yourself done. No taser or pepper spray will help.
Learning to stay calm and analyzing even in crisis is better for common folks.

8 Name: Oni : 2016-03-13 12:26 ID:7rhgYlJp [Del]

I appreciate all these replies but a taser is not something every citizen can actually obtain easily. And I'm not sure where to even get a defense spray. And Neko is right, I can't really stay calm if I'm under attack.

It doesn't help that these people from videos always come from behind when you are not expecting it and sometimes even alone. Knowing me I'll definitely panic. Going outside is just scary these days...

9 Name: Rora-chan !IHa.eGTGzA : 2016-03-13 14:04 ID:UjFx5dRg [Del]

>>8 Then I can't stress enough to stay aware and alert of your surroundings. Look around you, who's in front of you, who's behind, what are they doing, etc.

Darl, for people with normal stamina, that will just fry their brains in 15 minutes or so.

11 Name: Rora-chan !IHa.eGTGzA : 2016-03-13 20:08 ID:UjFx5dRg [Del]

>>10 I must be abnormal then lol. Or just hyper-aware of my surroundings. Really though, I mean it in a general sense, don't have to go all crazy. Just be alert of your surroundings, seems doable enough.

Here's a link to the news posted.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/random-slashing-attacks-across-new-york-city-provokes-fear/

It's all pretty terrifying, and I hope everyone there is staying safe, not only just at the subway. This could happen anywhere, and people need to stay alert and keep a watch out not just for yourself, but others as well. Keep something with you to protect yourself. Whistles are super helpful, too, as well as a small defense weapon such as knives or knucklebusters. Tasers are helpful, but they don't always work, so it's good to keep multiple items on you.

I live in new york too snd heaard about these months before...however i thought they stopped

.....Saika needs to calm the fuck down.

>>14 Hahahaha Saika has it rough these days needs to love humans XD As for this case, can't the government up the security since this has been happening so often?

16 Name: Aryandiani : 2016-03-14 19:14 ID:f4cLvpfH [Del]

It says Jan 28, this was a while ago.

17 Name: Usagi : 2016-03-14 21:21 ID:o/zMyDOv [Del]

It might not be random attacks

This is more recent.

19 Name: Neko !UU8hnqLjMY : 2016-03-16 08:17 ID:v5PC8ryu [Del]

Why can't you people use centimetres?

20 Name: Tarquin : 2016-03-17 07:39 ID:BuZf9uI7 [Del]

My advice would be to take a self defense class or keep something on you at all times. If you don't have anything conventional then try practicing with pens, if you use them right they can be just as dangerous as a knife.

21 Name: Bard : 2016-03-17 16:26 ID:SHiPTFwQ [Del]

There's got to be some connection to all these slasher attacks, it's weird for criminals to just randomly start doing this, not just one either but multiple.

22 Name: Mako : 2016-03-18 12:48 ID:+9CF8D4s [Del]

It's kind of like the anime, huh? Anyway, I think they've been focusing on people who are alone. Correct me if I'm incorrect, though!

23 Name: cooldud3 : 2016-03-19 05:56 ID:I7atZBFD [Del]

Usually people will attack someone if they're by themselves so it's probably good to travel in groups of two or more.

24 Name: Sakura : 2016-03-19 18:54 ID:6EYH8nQO [Del]

Wow... Imagine there was a Saika there slashing people and having more children. The place wouldn't be safe anymore..,

25 Name: Shadows : 2016-03-19 23:01 ID:pmQye+3T [Del]

Scary! First, the Dollars website exists, and now people are being stabbed just like in the anime! I hope its just the usual crime that happens in cities like that though! God(or whatever you believe in) bless those poor people.

26 Name: Tarquin : 2016-03-20 18:00 ID:SHiPTFwQ [Del]

Next thing we know we have a Dullahan riding around on a motorcycle looking for it's head, a bartender who can throw vending machines, an info broker getting chased by said bartender, and a serial killer pop star!

27 Name: Maike : 2016-03-20 22:34 ID:ezwtJugM [Del]

It's probably a pretty bad idea to use pepper spray on a subway, although I'm not sure about the legality of tasers. I have a tank top with little metal bits sewn in - I use it for the weight, but it might cause a knife to glance off, depending on where and at what angle someone tries to stab me. Maybe something similar would help you feel less concerned? This is scary though - I'm going to New York on Friday. I'm glad I saw this now

28 Name: Mazuko : 2016-03-21 10:14 ID:C3Gr/BbJ [Del]

Oh, god....I hope everything is okay there.

29 Name: Fate : 2016-03-21 10:25 ID:FaS/ytnL [Del]

Damn and i'm going to New York this fall.. ._. Hope it's okay over there tho

30 Name: Zen : 2016-03-21 10:48 ID:vBW+SYL1 [Del]

I dont get the reason why people would ever get mad enough to slash someone

31 Name: Mazuko : 2016-03-21 18:35 ID:C3Gr/BbJ [Del]

>>30
Right?

32 Name: BEYG : 2016-03-21 20:08 ID:REmm5iWW [Del]

Dang seems dangerous. Carry a defense weapon with you at all times and be careful!

33 Name: Liza : 2016-03-22 10:12 ID:iU9QUEdv [Del]

scary, could there be an actual saika creating more children and then something big is going to down too?!

34 Name: Tarquin : 2016-03-22 15:18 ID:SHiPTFwQ [Del]

Looks like there's more about it here...

35 Name: Hokhuke : 2016-03-22 15:56 ID:do0c9wE+ [Del]

With all the information stacked up, it kinda feels like a trend is beginning. It reminds me of the hit and run trends that used to go on.

36 Name: RikkaChi : 2016-03-22 20:30 ID:SGPbn3+D [Del]

When I saw the name of this post I thought it was like a saika joke or something...But I'm actually pretty scared. I'm planning to go to New York over the summer and if this keeps up, I'll end up as parinoid as ever.
But, maybe these people have some sort of connection one way or another, I mean it seems too suspicious all of these random stabbings.

37 Name: Zer0Tonashi : 2016-03-22 22:38 ID:ZNIYo9Yk [Del]

Whether for random attacks, coordinated attacks, or survival situations. I happen to keep myself well informed of different self-defense tactics, and making a makeshift shelter yada yada. Here's my advice: Wear thicker clothing, keep yourself well informed of your surroundings, keep yourself attentive but not expecting, and learn how to apply first aid to yourself and others. You might also want to learn how to quickly incapacitate someone if you need to escape something.

38 Name: kris : 2016-03-23 17:39 ID:aEIfMKNb [Del]

with the ridiculous number of members we have in new york we could organize n intel network to find out who is doing it ....probably not but we could try

39 Name: Bard : 2016-03-23 18:31 ID:SHiPTFwQ [Del]

>>38 I fully agree with the idea but even with so many members in New York, I doubt the majority would stand up to stop this even if they could. A lot of people won't try to do something because they're scared. I'm not bashing on any of the New York Dollars but I doubt even a majority of the members will attempt to change anything.

ohh yeaaaa ive been hearing about this, they still haven't caught the person.... scary

63 Name: price_zuko : 2016-04-02 20:56 ID:1EoOg7Uy [Del]

oh yea btw I live in Brooklyn, and I highly doubt its a gang, mostly because some of the victims aren't being robbed, just slashed, like this past Friday I believe this old man got slashed in his back, but he wasent robbed, my point is its not a gang because they would atleast take his phone or the money in his pocket... AND ITS NOTS SAIKA

this is pretty serious news and I will admit that I also thought of it as a joke but I still find it annoying that other people are saying its saika. I know its to be expected and I'm not saying that only my opinion counts but honestly this is serious and people are saying its just some slather from the series. its fine if you think of it like that but at least don't post it in the thread...

*cough* mother saika on a rampage

but forrealz, cant you find another way to get around until the person is caught?
