CHARSADDA, Pakistan— Gunmen from a faction of the Pakistani Taliban stormed a university campus in the country’s northwest on Wednesday and killed at least 21 people, officials said.
Gunfire erupted around 9 a.m., causing panic and confusion as heavy fog meant that students, employees and security guards couldn’t see what was happening, survivors said. Most of the victims were students.
A splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. The same group killed more than 130 students at the Army Public School in Peshawar more than a year ago.
