An atheist group is filing a lawsuit to remove the phrase "In God We Trust" in the $20 notes.
I mean, come on, do you people stare at bank notes like it's mona lisa?

People have been challenging that since 1970 and they always fail. This won't be the last time for sure.

Well it shouldn't be there in the first place. If we're not willing to accept money that says "Allahu Akbar" on it then we shouldn't allow this either.

Some people just don't know when to stop forcing their beliefs on the world, or in this case their country

Do you guys know how it got on there in the first place?

It's the currency of an originally christian country, so I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
Just like nothing can be done if there's "Allahu Akbar" written on the currency of muslim countries.
Part of history.

Hmmm...... But...is it represented as history? Or it is trying to represent itself as the present....

Many people who argue against it says it's "Oppressing their religion ".Rather than an historic aspect. Despite this, even people who do argue that it is historical do not have a really good reason for so .I was thinking about this last night....I would like to see it replaced with something that would not only comfort all of Americans , but people from all countries as well. The bill should be meant to represent all Americans, not just the original white settlers.Should the " In god we trust" gets removed from the bill I would like to see some representation of the native population on the bill as well, since they are also a major part of America's history, and , it is their original land, afterall.

* should the"In god we trust" stay on the bill

Oh my, this became more popular than I would've thought. I'll add some counter argument points for that.

First of all, economically speaking, it's a huge waste of resources to recollect all the $20 bills and then destroy them + print some new ones.
Also, the people doing this is only the really few minority. Most ppl don't even look at banknotes anyway.
Also, politically speaking, if they're given victory over something like this, by next year, they'll have anything symbolic to religion like monuments and statues torn down. Read some articles about some group who wanted to remove a war memorial because it had a cross.

Lastly, it's impossible to represent every American no matter where you were born. I mean, it's not like Indian tribes are well-represented, and you don't see them shouting over it (unless it's the lack of resources that prevents them from doing so).

They even wanted to take Andrew Jackson off the dollar recently as well I think they should leave it be. Those words and people were put on the dollar for a reason whether we know it or not.

Not trying to offend anyone with this!

This is kinda what our country was built on, of course it's changed and that's ok. But getting all freaked out over a phrase?! Our nation's pledge mentions God, the Big Bang is taught in schools, there are churches of every religion from Muslim to Wicca. Leave these things be and let them fall on their own if that is what the universe sees fit. And of course, I do not mean to offend anyone. Have a good day.

Fun fact: the "Under God" part in the Pledge of Allegiance was only added in 1954 due to increasing anxieties towards communism.

that makes a lot of sense. It's not about the religion it's about American rights and values as people
