Did turkey shoot out of self defense? I'm almost positive they would have sent warning signals to the plane before shooting!

basically to fly any kind of military air craft through/over another countries air space you have to get permission to do so.

The Russians indeed did not have the rights to fly over the Turkish airspace. Same could be said about Turkey not being able to fly over other countries airspace. There's evidence they've been doing so for awhile and last year spiked up their violations of Greek air space. The claim that they were trying to contact the pilot for 10 minutes is also fabricated, since the jet was only in the airspace for about 17 seconds.....

Let's not trigger that "In Case of World War III" switch. Although, at least Russia isn't going all-out "declare war on asshole A", because if he did, he'd also declare war on assholes B-Z.
