Anonymous has posted a video in which they promise to take down ISIS. Is anyone here a member of Anonymous, and if so do you have any information? To anyone else, do you support what they're doing, or think it should be left to the government?

2 Name: Mi : 2015-11-16 14:08 ID:gxil3USV [Del]

I think it's fake. I looked it up on YouTube and seems like they haven't released a video about it yet but they will.

Why would ANYONE want to take down ISIS. Clearly, at least in the US, we are prepared if they are ever to come to us. I mean nowadays every house owner, and NON-house owner, has at least one firearm (even the rich probably have a functional tank in their backyard).

"[H]ow exactly do they plan to stop an international terrorist organization that has been able to plot attacks regardless of the mass-spying by governments around the globe?" Discordian wrote on a text-hosting website called Pastebin.

Predictions from those in the cybersecurity industry of whether Anonymous will be successful are mixed, with experts saying they understand why Anonymous wants to target ISIS.

Stu Sjouwerman, founder and CEO of cybersecurity company KnowBe4, is optimistic that Anonymous will be successful. "I wish Anonymous good luck with this campaign."

It's real. But, I think it's not official though.... Anyways, I'm not part of them or anything, but, seeing how they work and all that, it's awesome! But, I don't support them nor do I like how they work. They may be famous because of how they work or something, but, I personally think that they will only get little info about ISIS. And about the question, I think both of them should work together. It would be much easier, especially now that most/all of the members of Dollars support them. While they work on the battle-field((getting info and attacking them)) we, the Dollars, will work on the back or sides by helping others and giving credits to Dollars and the Anonymous!

Pretty cool of them considering they have done negative stuff before

23 Name: Hli : 2015-11-17 14:02 ID:yTp5/urP [Del]

What I'm saying is, these anonymous shouldn't bark if they have no bite. That makes it very dangerous for them if ISIS were to ever find out who they are. I also think the US should not get involved anymore than they already are. I understand that we're allies in this, but what of us civilians? Personally I don't want the US to end up a war zone or worse.

>>23: Anon has proved time and again that they know what they're doing. They are, for lack of a better word, professional greyhats who have experience in covering their tracks.

And, unfortunately, the US is already a war zone, in several different meanings. The riots in Ferguson, MO and other places around the country have proved that the US is capable of turning weapons against its own citizens, so why not use them against a group who's actually causing harm? Not to mention the fact that there is a large ISIS presence in the USA already, so we're already in the fight anyways. Even if the US doesn't fight back, a terrorist group such as ISIS would have no qualms turning innocent neighborhoods into bomb drop zones. They've demonstrated that fact themselves.

So it isn't really a choice as to whether the US gets involved or not, because we already are. It's about how the US plays its cards to make sure the casualties are kept to a minimum, and its civilians are kept safe.

>>23 I don't think Anonymous can truly be found, just like ISIS. Believe it or not these two groups are two sides of the same coin, except obviously one has better moral values than the other. Just like how anyone can become an 'Anon' it's the same with ISIS. So it's never ending recruitment. You might be able to subdue these groups but they will never be truly obliterated, it's just the way the world works.

And by that mean, if there is good in the world, there will always be bad as well. Just like Rava and Vatu they coexist and need to exist, but they'll always be fighting. It's how the world stays in balance and equilibrium.

27 Name: Neko : 2015-11-17 19:34 ID:XxUN+Q98 [Del]

28 Name: Hli : 2015-11-17 19:36 ID:NCW4FnmO [Del]

completely understandable, however I still don't understand how they plan to stop ISIS without their own means of violence. Violence is always necessary to achieve peace.

Dollars must not be an ally on any of the two cause' we're civilians, we are not as good as the Anon hacking group and we don't have power to join their war we just have to protect ourselves and help each other and help the defenseless people that can be affected to that war. We are colorless.

Basing on what I just read on the past comments, I am totally scared, but slightly happy that there is a group that would stand up for humanity and world peace. Though, I would mostly prefer not to join such groups, maybe showing support to those who are trying to stop violence would be more helpful. Plus, isnt this the perfect momentum to make the world know who/what the Dollars are capable of? Time to take some REAL action? Just saying! ^^

I support it I want ISIS taken done fell the needless of those they killed.

48 Name: Agilius : 2015-11-19 12:35 ID:DIF8bV6V [Del]

>>45 is kinda right. This is actually the time for the Dollars to shine too. We, the Dollars may be colorless, shadows or something, but, what's the use of becoming a 'Dollar member' if only WE and the other people that watched the show knows about this? Just some people from the other group called 'Yellow Scarves' are taking action. And they still just have 41 members, while we, MAYBE thousand members doesn't do anything. So, just like what the other members here said, even if we can't fight or help Anon., let's help others while covering our faces and tell them that we're from the Dollars. And, instead of grafittying the walls, I think we should just print a picture of the Dollars logo with some inspirationl words on it and stick it at walls. This way, we, The Dollars will be known since we are around the world.

49 Name: Yugen!tLonFZl0Bk : 2015-11-19 13:54 ID:Ncrnu4xI [Del]

Anonymous is in the process of tracking and destroying the ISIS information network, and are doing quite well. If nothing else, they are slowing the organization down digitally, as well as limiting their expansion.

However for we more peaceful Dollars, I have another preposition. Informing everyone we can about whatever we can related to these happenings, and supporting communities most spooked by these terrorist attacks. Helping clean up debris and comforting those who have lost loved ones from these heinous criminals and murderers. Reporting ISIS sites stumbled upon to Anonymous sites and other things like that. And, if shit DOES hit the fan (with ISIS' drive, who knows) finding a way to help out your community as much as possible. Building shelters and hiding areas similar to what happened in the Cold War. Again comforting who you can, and finding ways to give people hope in dark times like these.

What do you say? Support who we can, where we can? Or sit back and let others do the work? Sure, the front lines against terrorism aren't something most of us would go for, but if nothing else, we can keep our respective nations and communities strong and united not just as Frenchmen or Americans or Syrians or what-have-you, but as citizens of the world, a people united as such.

The way I see it, the governments are perhaps trying to do something but we do not know what is happening behind the scenes. As a former member who is familiar and participated at Conferences, decisions always take time to be finalized.
Same mistakes are also to be avoided. ISIS is not attacking the USA directly yet to cause for any "emergency" retaliation. When 9/11 struck, we began a war with Afghanistan. If we were to send missiles, drones, and more men to where ISIS may be located, we will start another war as there is such a thing called borders and sovereignty.
I am not agreeing with the government but merely trying to come up with possible ideas to what could be going on in their minds. Bin Laden took a while to track down and attack without him knowing. ISIS are not stupid and will not be caught so easily. It it was a simple track and destroy, I do not think they would still be here bombing several major areas.

People are underestimating ISIS and that will be our downfall. We assume they are nothing more than just extremists who claim religion as their excuse. But they have the manpower of an army and the minds of generals and presidents with them. They are intelligent people. not a pack of animals.

You're a special kind of stupid aren't you? While you ARE right we need to form groups and do something about it, this was most definitely the wrong way to say it. The Dollars are so widely spread that in order for anyone to make groups like that we'd need to travel and group up the few of a certain kind around the world, and that's far to expensive and time consuming than action against this organization than it should be.

For now I refer back to >>49 as a start. Try to join some other local groups and support them if you don't have enough people yourself. You can do it, and I believe it.

Anonymous have indeed declared 'war' on ISIS, although this is not new, and they have been actively targeting the group online. Their efforts were recognised by the US government as being 'worthwhile', and led the US government to also persue the idea of working against ISIS online. To date, Anonymous have successfully taken down over 100 sites associated with ISIS, along with over 200,000 twitter accounts removed. As for the questions about whether the video is 'fake' or 'official', it really is impossible to say, as ironically, since this was posted here, anonymous is set in a very similar way to the dollars. It is more of an ideology than a group, and anyone can be part of anonymous merely by desiring to be anonymous. Whilst there are sites and services to communicate with over members, the users fluctuate frequently, and therefore it is almost impossible to identify who any one member is. For this reason, it is impossible to say whether or not it is official, although anonymous are indeed running the operations #opIceISIS, #opISIS and #opParis, and are working with other groups, although some consider them subgroups of anonymous, such as ghostsec and ctrlsec. As for questions about their effectiveness, their efforts were recognised by the US government as stated before, and they leaders of twitter recieved death threats from ISIS for removing ISIS accounts provided to them by anonymous. As for the comment that anonymous are increasing ISIS's online presence, that may be true, however even if that is the case, they are disrupting communications, recruiting and causing enough problems for ISIS to send a death threat to twitter. If you wish to learn more about their actions, it is probably easiest to ask them yourselves, on their irc hosted at irc.anonops.com. You could also read newblood.anonops.com or look at anonhq.com to get an idea of the group's motives and ideas.

i don't want another ISIS situation but leave that to the government even though they suck i would rather not have ISIS team up with some country with nuclear weapons or bio-chemical or anything and start bombing the US -thank you penisberg i agree with you.

>>87 I thought countries were doing stuff though. The US is already target striking and other nations are evacuating Syrian refugees. I think Russia is also helping Syria too.

The problem though is that the US or any other nation with nuclear armaments can't simply just launch a nuclear warhead. It would devastate landscapes, affect surrounding nations, and may probably enter a nuclear war. We're a mere 3 minutes before Doomsday you know.

“You will be treated like a virus, and we are the cure,” Anaymouse continued. “We Own The Internet. We are Anonymous, We are Legion, We do not forgive, We do not forget, Expect us.” --Anaymouse's response to Isis. I support Anaymouse.

I think Anonymous is a strong group and I have hired about them wanting to start a "war" agents Isis whether they can do it or not is up to them, do I think they can.. Sure I do, will they, that's not for me to say it's up to them.

It seems unlikely that Anonymous will be able to have much of an impact against ISIS, since I don't think ISIS is very vulnerable to the kind of information manipulation which makes Anonymous effective. Whatever sensitive information they have available online will probably be collected by national intelligence groups with the ability to act on that information. However, this is interesting, and if they do find a way to effectively injure ISIS I would be intrigued.
