Brazil president Dilma Rousseff attacks opposition 'coup' plot

Brazil’s embattled president Dilma Rousseff has condemned the campaign calling for her impeachment as an "open coup".
Speaking at the opening of the 12th Congress of Central Workers (Concut) in São Paulo on Tuesday, Ms Rousseff defended her mandate and democratic re-election.

“I am president because I was elected by the people, in lawful elections," she said. “I have the legitimacy of the polls, which protects me and which I have a duty to protect."

Ms Rousseff is under pressure after federal auditors recommended Congress reject her 2014 public accounts over financial irregularities.
