"A young girl was less than a meter from one of about 20 bullets fired during a drive-by shooting, a neighbour said...One bullet went through the front window of the house. The remainder hit two cars parked on the street and a nearby fence. Five people including three children, were inside the home at the time but escaped injury....the family had lived in the home about 15 years and had 'no idea' why they were targeted." - Whittelsea Leader, Oct 20 issue
Where I am and in the states mentioned above, random gun shooting have been taking place and it seems half of them are not even targeted ones, but youth trying to find something 'thrilling' to do, stupidly.
It's too dangerous to deal with these gun wielding maniacs directly but strategies need to be put in place to avoid or at least cope in this situation without being killed or seriously injured.
If your going out go out with a group 3+ avoiding alleyways and side streets of possible- make sure the group is not to big because then you could be perceived as a gang If shootings occurring nearby double bolt and lock your door, try to stay away from your windows Try to get police and community support officers to patrol your neighbourhood Talk to your neighbours for support Reach out to the news- not fox though because 90% of what they report is either misinformation or grossly over/under exaggerated
Here is a very brief list of all the shootings that occurred in Victoria in the past month and also includes a map with markings of where all the shootings have occurred.
If there is someone from the Dollars that can decipher this then do so here. There is a number of people from Victoria here and we're spread out. Designate and area to keep a close eye out for suspicious activity.
