I'd like to create this discussion for everyone to join because opinions are interesting are they not? Now then our topic for this discussion is the Syrian refugees. Now I know most of you are thinking how sad it is and how we should save them. But let me ask you this question, were you fully aware of the status of the Syrian refugees before the media started to talk about it so much? Let's face it, most of us didn't even know until the picture of the drowned little boy appeared on the news which sparked media discussions which led to influence the Government. But let's say that picture never appeared. Never taken. Could we still care about these Syrian refugees? Loads of people didn't even know until the picture came up. Or a better question...do you even care now? Do you care about these people who live across the globe and have no impact on your life at all. Many die each day but do we feel the sadness? And even if we "help" them, would we feel joy? Now this may seem like a heartless post...but this is mostly the truth. If not for that picture...how would things be now.

Well for my own opinion, this is based on my teacher actually. There is a lot problem going on in this world nowadays. It can be overwhelming to think:

"Holy shit, take a look at those refugees, omg"
"Look at all the wars that is raging in the middle east now"

Sometimes it makes you sad to think about those problem. But for some it is a call for a purpose in life. The fact that i'm trying to point out is:

"Yes I do not care until someone posted a picture of a little boy washed ashore, but i'm glad that i know now that there is someone on this world who does not have a country and need help. With my capabilities right now what can i do to help?"

Not all people know everything. But once we got the knowledge/information, what do we do with it? Well that is up to the individual. Either he/she wants to help or just ignore it.

Totally my opinion.

Not news. (Interesting topic tho, but that still doesn't make it news) Also if you scroll down, you'll see a post just about this topic! What a coincidence!
Anyways, please move this one to random or something.

Well, I think, it is sad how they live and so. But I don't want to unterstand them or unterstand their sadness, because it is way too sad for someone like me, who doesn't know what real Sadness is. I have little problems compared to them in syrien. If I could help them I would do it, but I don't know, how to go on, but I will never unterstand them or their sadness.

In my opinion, the lives of the refugees does not concern me directly. I did not know about the refugees until watching the news a week after the picture was publicised. However, the Syrian refugees will indeed have an impact on many of the host countries and the rest of the world. The rest of the world, unfortunately has their own problems in their own nations as it is. If this matter may affect us in anyway, it is entirely up to decisions of the political leaders.

It's going to be quite the problem for several countries, most of them poor and with severe integration issues as it is. The refugees will flood those countries, large groups of racists and nationalists will start hating them (since poor countries tend to have more than a few nationalist hoodlum groups such as football hooligans). Meanwhile corrupt politicians are just going to mind their bussiness and not do a thing to solve the overwhelming amount of problems those countries already have.
I don't even know what photograph you're talking about, it was vice's documentary that sparked my interest. I had heard about the transpiring events maybe 2 months before the release of the documentary, approximately two years ago (i think?).
>>Blyue - opinions are interesting, generaly speaking, yours, however, is rather banal and uninteresting.

the truth I read some articles on the Syrians and the truth if it is sad and it's great that Germany and other countries are doing something but because instead d eusar that money to give lodging to migrants because it does not bind to arrange events in Syria

Austrian here.
I won't talk about the ethical aspect, I figure every one of you is able to feel empathy and knows that help is needed, whether you actually do something is up to you, financial support or whatever. (Let me be straight, I don't. If I see a person in need I'll help, but I won't go looking for them.)
What I wanted to say is that due to the flood of refugees, fear within Europe is rising. People are affraid of the consequences, be it economical, cultural or personal.
This leads to the more radical factions and parties gaining support, when aid for minorities is needed the most.
I just hope the conflict in Syria will be resolved, though Russia (and Iran, I think?) are getting in the way of UN intervention. As it is now, tbe issue is nowhere close to resolved, half of Syria's population has fled the country, and those people are still out there in need of a save shelter. A single country's internal affairs lead to severe consequences for a whole continent, which shows the negative aspect of globalisation.
But for now, I am glad that some people are ready to show support and that a proxy war doesn't lead to a world war as opposed to hundreds years earlier. Let's look at it that way, humanity has grown in numbers as well as in mentality, so let's make the best out of it.

Who"s fault do you think it is that their is so much suffering in the world. goverments because their is so corruption. Terrorist because they kill innocent people. Criminals because they prey on the innocent people. No i say its normal people because they refuse to accept that these things are a reality in our world. They refuse it exist & so they continue to live as if their completely content with their pathetic and empty lives.
