I am never getting on an escalator ever again. Not without checking that it's safe first. Everyone, be careful!

Okay, honestly why was that escalator even in use if it was known that some parts were missing? That should have been an obvious safety concern. Well, in any case I'm definitely glad I usually take the stairs myself.

I think so too. If they noticed it, one of the worker should have been downstairs and stop the people from using it. Or a sign board would've worked too. It's so sad because the kid only wanted go with his mum up and go back down while the dad waited. My condolences to the family.

Thats awful, the article said it happened because the people who fixed it forgot to screw the platform (wear you step when you get off) on. The people who fixed should be also held accountable for that womens death. Its probably especally bad for the husband who was at the bottom of the thing when it happend. (Note I read the article and I did not feel the need to watch the footage of the poor women's death/heroic actions). And I am now also taking the stairs from now on.

I always knew escalators were shady motherfuckers. Screw escalators, screw the workers that didn't warn these people, so fucking sorry to the kid and the husband for having to witness that, 'le~!

We don't have escalators where I'm at, but I never liked them. I don't trust such things. That terrible tragedy should not have even happened.

holy shit these kinds of stories make me afraid of anything and everything.like a woman was electrocuted straight at her brain after keeping in headphones in her phone while it was charging.her face was actually looking blue and melted after wards.

It's not an uncommon story. Escalators are dangerous and really don't have enough fail safes in case something goes wrong. That's why stores aren't supposed to lock up the emergency stop panel, but they always do :|

Yeah, I saw this on the news a few weeks ago. I went to an anime convention three weeks ago and initially refused to take the escalators but had been told otherwise (since the elevators had limited access for hotel guests only), and the same escalators my friends and I rode on needed maintenance a few moments later. And those escalators have a history of being faulty...
